Re: pace STB Problem

Something strange going on with the PACE STBs ?

Last night my Pcce also died. 88:88 + 3 leds.

That's now 3 people so far in the last two days reporting 8888 dead STB.

Is NTL sending out an update which is killing the Paces ?

Surely more than a coincidence ? or is this a very common fault ?

I am in Waltham Forest area ex-cwc.

Re: pace STB Problem

I would put it down more to a conincidence, three boxes out of however-many ntl have hooked up isn't that huge

Re: pace STB Problem

My Pace STB has risen from the ashes. Turns out it wasn't entirely dead after all. 11am yesterday it received some signal that kicked it into life and went into "Err1" on the display. I power cycled it at about 19.00 and it said it was receiving a software update and then booted up. TV and broadband running normally.

Diagnostic pages said something about a "loader, bad crc".

Re: pace STB Problem

Mine has just frozen; no channels but display changes. Reboot and I get some channels back, but not E4 (Mrs Sipowicz!! is in the middle of desperate H/wives and is not happy!!!!) or E4+1. She reckons it is happening a lot lately (but has only just told me!!) I am used to the box blacking out at ten past midnight for the odd second, but this is different!

A call to CS methinks...

Re: pace STB Problem

Pace STB. Maybe there is something going on. Yesterday had the 88:88 all lights on problem. Rang faults they said box was dead but could not get anyone out to me till Tuesday, so took a week off work and no cable -not happy-

Had to leave box on in order to get the terrestrial channels. Tonight looked at box now said ERR1. Rebooted, everything back to normal ????

Surely this is now not just a conincidence.

Re: pace STB Problem

My pace STB (new replacement but of the old design) also went dead last night (broadband as well). Customer services closed so nothing I could do. The STB was not that hot and even rebooting didn't work. Got error message M043 - No channels available. This has been happening a lot lately ending with a black screen. Sometimes it resets itself. often it does not. This normally when I taping something.

Guess what? Switched on this morning and getting channels as normal. Do I feel like sitting for ages on the phone waiting for custimer services on my day off? No! At least I will get to see 24!

Surely with all the technology NTL have they could allow us to email our problems?
