Optical Digital Output?

Can anyone tell me what outputs are on the back of a Telewest Digibox?

Does it have a separate optical output for the sound, or does it all go through a scart to the TV?

Thanks!

Re: Optical Digital Output?

Thanks for the welcome - I have no idea if that connection is there! I live in an ntl area, and I am about to move to a telewest area so I was wondering if my (future) telewest cable box will be able to connect to my home cinema system via optical output...

Re: Optical Digital Output?

At present telewests boxes do not support a digital optic output. However in the second half of next year Telewest plan to relesase a PVR (personal video recorder) which im told has this capabilitie

Re: Optical Digital Output?

had an interesting chat with TW regarding pvr as was thinking of sky+ directed me to this link for the details of what is coming

http://www.scientificatlanta.com/new.../05Jan20-1.htm

very interesting 3 tuners (1 more than current 8300s)160gb built in and you can add a sata hdd and no need for a redeye remote translator - all my prayers answered

outputs with include optical and coax digital audio as well as my fav component video out for non HD tvs too. Full connection details found here although you need to supply a few details to get in
http://www.scientificatlanta.com/Exp...ed/4003986.pdf
they also said 1mb broadband going to 2mb on 7 may for no extra cost. as you can imagine I am forgetting sky

Re: Optical Digital Output?

I did see a guide where someone managed to fit a digital output to his Pace STB by connecting it up to the output of the of the MPEG decoder chip. No idea if it would actually work though since I haven't tried it -- and if you try it on one of Telewest's boxes they will probably be exceedingly unhappy etc etc.
