Re: ntl on watchdog

Hopefully last post before it goes back on-topic but I've not had any problems with Ntl E-Mail. Ever.

Anyway back to Ntl being bent over a desk by the BBC and given something to bite down on.

Re: ntl on watchdog

NTL said they have compensated all the customers mentioned on the show.

One guy complained about the red button interactive always crashing his set top box - how was he compensated??

Probably a subscription to Sky where interactive works properly!

It's the program to combine all the old billing and customer managment systems from the different cable companies into one all-singing, all-dancing system which will do everything bar make the customers a cup of coffee.

It has been known to suffer from the odd problem though

Re: ntl on watchdog

From the Watchdog Site:-

These are the issues that were raised on lastnights show.

Quote:
22nd February 2005

Hundreds of you have been in touch with Watchdog about the communications giant, NTL. We spoke to three viewers who complained to us about the company's customer service.

Esther Parkes's NTL landline stopped working and she subsequently encountered many problems getting through to the NTL customer service centre. In the time it took to fix her line, she was forced to use her mobile phone instead and ran up a hefty bill which she feels NTL should pay.

Andy Maclean cancelled his account with NTL and gave them 30 days notice. But the company continued to bill him month after month. Andy pointed out their error which NTL accepted and they told him to disregard their bills. But then it seems NTL disregarded their own advice. They instructed a debt collection agency to deal with Andy.

Sarah Daniels was forced into extreme measures when she tried to talk to NTL about her mother's account. Her mother passed away in October last year and Sarah sent the company a copy of the death certificate as well as a letter saying that she would now be handling any outstanding payments.

But NTL continued to write to Sarah's deceased mother asking for her authorisation to discuss the account with Sarah. Eventually Sarah wrote a letter from her deceased mother explaining that since she had passed away, she was no longer able to deal with such queries.

NTL admit the service to those in the film was unacceptable and unreservedly apologise. They will be offered credit for the inconvenience caused. NTL do say a one hundred million pound systems makeover is underway with the sole aim of improving customer service.

Credit would be pointless as he was this guy - he'd had enough

On a small side note I've recently heard a strong rumour that Harmony has been put off to the side for the remainder of the year (and possibly further after that)

So for the people of Glasgow, Northern Ireland and Wales (plus some other regions) your bills and accounts are safe(ish) from the automated ballsup other regions have found when Harmony was introduced there.

Re: ntl on watchdog

Tips:
How to avoid shoddy customer services? leave them
How to avoid unreasonable caps? leave them
How to deal with continued billing after leaving them? Cost them lots of money by ignoring their defunct letters of *illegal threats* and if it does get to court then strike.

I left NTL about 9 months ago or so and im still being billed even though both my phone account and cable account was settled in full. Yes before any nerds pipe up they are seperate well in my case they are.
33p seems to their records to still be outstanding, boy am I gonna have a laugh if they threw it in the courts. 33p worth of one hand not knowing what the left is doing if they should take action will cost them 1000's.
Enjoy NTL the company known for shoddy service, restricted service, unstable service. If any more reduncies take place I suggest they look at the management all levels as the general staff themselves are fine but bound by BS

Gotta love Harmony
