Re: Prescription costs to rise

OH BUM!!!!

FFS, I can't breath too well without my daily dosage & now I have to pay even more for it.

Might just start declaring that I don't pay if this carries on.

Re: Prescription costs to rise

Remember how Labour used to condemn the Tories when they increased prescription charges, claiming it was a tax on the sick?

Re: Prescription costs to rise

I'm asthmatic, stable fortunately, but still need daily meds. Several years ago I got my doctor to agree to prescribe double the amount she had been, in exchange for me using the repeat prescription service, rather than making appointments each time. She got to see more patients, I got to effectively pay half what I had been paying.

Re: Prescription costs to rise

Thats the problem, the doc wont prescribe 2 on the form.
because they are £40 each without the prescription, as I need one each month that would be horrendous.

yet I don't get enough to warrant a prepayment certificate.

Damn asthma!

Re: Prescription costs to rise

I've just had an infection in my foot and got prescribed two lots of anti-biotics and some anti-histamines.

Total cost was almost £20.

I'm glad I didn't get ill *next* month...!

Re: Prescription costs to rise

I have the same problem being astmatic, fortunatey i dont need to pay for another few monthes. but i had a year out 2 years ago from full time education, and worked in a food shop and during his time my astma got quite bad and i was paying nearly £30 on prescriptions and on my pay it was quite a lot!
So everytime i go in for a checkup now my doctor always asks if pay for prescriptions and gives me 6 inhalers...so enough to keep me going for a long time!
I'm not sure if theres something at university where you can claim back fees for prescriptions, and glasses and things?

Re: Prescription costs to rise

I have the same problem, every prescription I get has 4-5 items on it, it costs me a fortune, but I also no how much these meds cost to purchase, so im not going to complain when im only paying 5% of there value...
