Still it's always worth a phone call I suppose.

You may be able to negotiate having the family pack (for which Sky charge £19.50) for £19.50 and a NTL phone line (although technically it is for new customers only).

That I didn't know know (is this the same for normal Sky as well as Sky+). But what about a VoiP line - which is the dirrection I'm heading in, hence the reason I want to get rid of the phone line. You can plug standard telephones into the adapter and make call to other PSTN numbers, so I guess it will work for Sky. Does the box call a freephone number or is there extra call charges, if so how much. All kinda off the main topic of the thread but the advice would be handy.

Yes it is the same for Sky+ and Sky. The STB rings an 0870 number (I think) to check in every so often. I do not know if it will work with a VoIP phone.

When Sky send out a check for telephone line signal via the satellite the STB calls a 0800 number. I would imagine that VOIP could be used for the connection if you have an analog telephone adaptor fitted.
