Quite the opposite. (Unless you, too cannot understand that it is now possible to get the Family Pack for £19.95 without paying for telephony?)

12 months is a long time Neil....! I doubt once the Telewest takeover is complete that enforced bundling would even be allowed.

It's been possible for a while. As an offer. And for only 12 months.

So - I got what I wanted, and you got what you wanted - so let's not bore everyone to death who doesn't want to save the promised £140 in a year. Of course, after the year is up I'll look at the matter again, but at the end of the day the phone line (if connected) IS free.

I, and others, told you many times you could have that, but you repeatedly stated that wasn't the issue, you were adamant the product had been unbundled, and you were wrong. An admission and apology would be nice.
As regards that offer, if someone in an area that can have telephone takes JUST the digital TV and refuses to have a telephone line installed, they will not be allowed to have that free line rental offer as it's conditional upon having a phone line, the theory being that often the difference can be partly recovered in telephone call spend.
I know this, because I have often spent an hour or so removing the discount codes from such customers who originally requested both but then refused the telephone part of the install at the door.

Yes, but you still have to HAVE the telephone.
You should not be able to get that offer if you don't take the phone package as well, though often you will because some people don't know any better. But eevn then, that is NOT unbundling. Unbundling would be if ntl said 'have the Family pack for life without the phone for £19.95' .
What you've got is NOT unbundling. It doesn't matter if you choose to decide it is or not, the fact is it is not unbundling and that's the finish of it.
Edit: ARRRGHH! POXY MERGED POST!

But you haven't been saying it's available without paying for it, in fact you said back in Post #57

But you have got a phone line that you didn't want.
I also said earlier...

And that clearly ain't gonna happen.
Personally I feel you owe everyone an apology for claiming that you will get DTV without an unwanted phone line, as that's not what you are getting-you're getting DTV with an unwanted phone line (albeit free)

No it isn't often I agree with Neil but in this case several people said the deal you had (free phone line for 1 year) was what you were going to get. And you disputed it.

Re: NTL unbundle digital from Telco
it's worth noting though that although the "offer" to erm de-unbundle the phone is only for the first year, there's a good chance that if after your 12months you phoned to cancel your account, then retentions would offer to give you the phone line at no cost. they did for me when I tried to cancel a couple of years back and I know they have offered this to other customers.

Interesting. Was there any time limit on this offer, or was it indefinite?

Re: NTL unbundle digital from Telco
I think it was 12 months with no commitment - ie. I didnt have to agree to a new 12 months contract. She definitely said I could still cancel at any time. I still turned it down though as NTL's TV service wasn't of benefit to me.

Re: NTL unbundle digital from Telco
It is also important to point out that the free phone line only applies to the family pack and not the base pack - i.e. you can have the family pack and free phone line (for a year) for £19.50 (going up to £29 after the year) or you can have the base pack and phone line for £19.50!

Re: NTL unbundle digital from Telco
They extended the free phone line offer for another 12 months for me too, when I phoned up to cancel.
