Re: Battlestar Galactica
Now I am so pleased I never watched it.I would have had apoplexy 50 times over at the liberties they have taken with the story.

Re: Battlestar Galactica
Incog,
I understand you may have loved the original story - but im not kidding when i say that this is probably the best SCI-FI i've seen in a long time.
I can only say to you - does it really matter that much?
If you have the time, i would urge you to put your grevances behind you about the original - accept they have gone off on a different slant with that and just give it a try.
I think if you give it a couple of episodes you will see what everyone is banging on about.

No, I don't think you would. You may have been sitting there like me thinking "what I watched back in the '80s was total ****!!! Why didn't they make it like this in the first place???"
And then cursing yourself for letting the memory of the original stop you from watching this version for several episodes until the weight of opinion on here changed your mind...!
If (when!) they repeat it, I really urge you to give it a look.

I already took a look.I was just so annoyed that they had to meddle too much with the story.I really can't take the Baltar is really a nice but misunderstood chap who got conned tack. What was so wrong with him being a totally evil g*t.

I wouldnt have said he was nice, he knew what she was doing within the software he had created, he just wasnt expecting the cylons to go so far with the whole genocide thing
I think the difference between this baltar and the original is that this one isnt completeley immoral. The old one was evil, and this one is greedy .

Because in the original version he was so bloody one dimensional, just like the Cylons were simply ruthless killing machines out to exterminate mankind and had no other plan apart from that.
Boring.

It would be nice if they could bring in a little bit more of Cylon psychology here, including some of the history of the original models (that is, the original Cyclon models in the new series), for example why they rebelled and why they created the cyborg versions. It would also be nice to know what they are up to, Number Sixes remark of 'they still have their uses' was rather callous I thought. Think of it in human terms, you rebel from your creators, leave to create a new world, have a few kids and end up being their (your kids) slaves

Re: Battlestar Galactica
Thanks for that Graham, no idea how I missed it/don't remember, perhaps the trauma blocked it form my mind?
Now was it cylon programming that caused her to do it, or what? Because I don't remember her seing another Adama on the base star, so why would she kill him if not from her cylon side?
Definitely want to see more along the lines of the cylon belief in god etc.
I did laugh during the interrigation episodes when I noticed that the guns the guards were using are airsoft P90's same as mine

Re: Battlestar Galactica
WHOOHOOO!!!!!
From Slashdot...
"SCI FI Channel announced that the second season of its hit original series Battlestar Galactica will premiere this summer with 20 new episodes, after earlier confirming their commitment to the show. Production will resume in March in Vancouver, B.C., with the entire ensemble cast returning, along with executive producer and writer Ronald D. Moore and executive producer David Eick. Averaging over 3 million viewers per episode, the series has quickly become SCI FI's highest-rated original series. No news on when a UK premeire might occur, but with Battlestar Gallactica ranking number 9 out of the top ten most popular TV program downloads worldwide, I don't think UK fans would have to wait long in any case." They're offering the first episode of the show for viewing in a no-charge commercial free venue on the official site.

EDIT: The best news about this is that all the cast is coming back
