2Mb NTL Broadband?
Does anybody know if NTL are soon to be making 2Mb Broadband available? I see on DS that Telewest have completed their trials for the 2Mb, and wondered if NTL would be doing the same??

'No plans' is still the official line. It's not especially easy to introduce a new tier, but if it will make us money it will happen.

I suppose the biggest question on everyones mind is, if such a speed was released by ntl, would it be capped?
Sorry but it had to be mentioned... :p

I think it would be a more of a when not if IMO i honestly can't see the 'guidelines' about usage being in the same form in 6 months time. But thats just my opinion

TW and ADSL 2Mb has a 256k upstream. Doubt ntl's would have anything different. Current home permanent internet connection technology was unfortunately designed with the assumption that people would download more than upload. This is actually pretty much true, as the vast majority of people only use their upload for emails and HTTP requests, while the download gets emails, HTTP content, video, streaming sound etc.
All this means that download will outstrip upload for the foreseeable future, and it's easier to increase the downstream speed than the upstream.
