Anyone good with boilers / an Electrician?
Not sure if im gonna get anything out of this but here goes. I have a Vokera 20/80 RS boiler for which i have just bought an analogue timer for, however despite being told it comes with instructions, the instructions said "consult the manual" which i dont have.
Anyhoo, included is some shots of the wiring shematic and circuit board, and im hoping one of you lot might be able to help me.
Any ideas?

EDIT: More pitcures can be provided if necessary.

What is the make and model of the timer. There may be a wiring diagram on the net somewhere if you google for it ???
You need to be careful with anything directly fitted into boilers. Technically that should only be touched by a CORGI registered fitter.

If it was a washing machine or similar I could have helped, try this member. He is a qualified heating engineer.

Re: Anyone good with boilers / an Electrician?
I re-wired my system to incorporate a second pump via a relay - Potterton were amazingly helpful with diagrams - I cannot answer for Vokera but Here is a contact from their (temoprary) site

Re: Anyone good with boilers / an Electrician?
ok - I have the same boiler, but with a digital, rather than an analogue timer - I'm assuming the connections are the same (the wire colours are)
white/red wire - remove existing double black wire from back of timed/summer/constant switch, fit double connector onto terminal, connect red/white wire & refit original double black wire.
blue wire - connect to bottom terminal marked 'N' on main terminal strip ( marked NL123N)
white wire - connect to terminal '1' on main terminal strip.
Red/black - connect to spare terminal on back of timed/summer/constant switch.
usual disclaimers apply (not my fault if it doesn't work or blows up, basically ) but I hope that makes sense.

I can tomorrow - I'm having the annual service inspection, in the meantime, the diagram on the little instruction leaflet looks exactly the same as in your piccy.

Re: Anyone good with boilers / an Electrician?
Hi Homealone,
That would be great if you could, i am having difficulty understanding your instructions for the Red/White and red/black wires.
On my boiler, the double black plug goes into the bottom terminal (the "on" postion) on the Power switch, not the Timed/Summer/Const switch which you indicate.
It looks like the following:-
Power
0 (Off) - Blue Cable
Middle position - Brown Cable
1 (On) - Double Black
One Double black cable goes to the Timed/Summer/ Const Switch at position 0 (Timed) and the other goes off to the terminal strip.
I have included a diagram to make things a bit easier to see, perhaps it will help - feel free to butcher it
EDIT: By the way - wat do you mean by "the diagram on the little instruction leaflet" - what instruction leaflet do you mean?

I got a little instruction leaflet with the timer, when the boiler was first installed, I'm a bit snookered for a scanner, atm, otherwise i would put up a copy.
It sounds like they expect you to remove the connector on the timed/summer/ constant switch taking the black wire from the main on/off switch & replace it with a double connector, which then takes the red/white wire from the timer and the existing black wire, as well.
It should be a lot clearer when the engineer takes it all to bits, tomorrow, when I should be able to put up a couple of piccies and /or a diagram.

Re: Anyone good with boilers / an Electrician?
I think it's worth pointing out that the timer connections may well require voltage free contacts & that no voltages should be supplied to them.
or something like that (as it says in my manual).
I'm doing a similar job to mine soon.
p.S. just in case anyone mentions it, this IS allowed to be done by a DIYr under the new electricity in the home regulations that came into force on 010105

Re: Anyone good with boilers / an Electrician?
okey dokey, here's a pic of the circuit board, I hope its ok - it's hard to take a steady picture perched on one leg up a step ladder
as for the 'double black' connection, it looks like my instructions were wrong, because as TBR said, that is connected to the on/off switch, not the timed/summer/constant, one. The red & white wire from the timer is attached to the same terminal as the double black wire on the on/off switch.
the red & black wire from the timer connects to the top terminal on the timed/summer/constant switch (top as in furthest away from you)
so
3
2
1
you connect to 3.
I hope that helps?
