Question Yahoo mail fail to receive via pop

Help
I'm so close. I think

My friends got this super dooper laptop with (Sony Vaio VGN-A217S) running XP,Office Outlook 2003 and on a WIFI Vodafone 3G/GPRS pcima card. Norton 2004.

I have created a yahoo mail accont for him and enabled pop mail on it.

Have set up Outlook to connect onto Yahoo and passed the send test message phase ok. I can send mail ok, but when it tries to receive i get the following error :-

Task 'Yahoo - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: +OK 10124 octets'

Tried loads of norton suggestions, even disabled it, but no joy so far.

Any experts out there on G3/GPRS who know if there are proplems with it with pop mail

Cheers

Re: Yahoo mail fail to receive via pop

I know Yahoo have certain flags that have to be set on your account to allow you to access your mail via pop. On is in "mail options" and you need to select "pop mail or forwarding" and then select pop3.

Also there is a page called "Yahoo Delivers" whereby you consent to Yahoo sending you adverts to allow them to fund the additional servers. This MUST be setup otherwise you cant access their pop servers. To be fair I've never had an advert from them, so it really shouldn't affect your spam levels but you have to set both of these options or their system blocks you.

Yahoo "co.uk" account or yahoo ".com" account? I don't know about the uk version but I believe that the .com one won't let you download from the pop servers without using one of their paying options.
