Apart from the alerts you get with trailers on the various channels, there are TV listings magazines and your EPG to alert you to new series, which is surely how you find out about any new programme.
I think you'll find over the coming years that we have little choice in the matter - on demand is how everyone will be accessing their content.

Only if the series is currently showing and you know which channel(there isn't an all channels option). Eg I currently have a series link for "Dragons Den". There are no episodes due in next 2 weeks. As such, I wouldn't be able to set up series link with TV360.
With a on-demand only set-up, there can be no EPG.
When I tried to use on-demand yesterday as a test, the number of different hoops I had to jump through were quite ridiculous. That's before getting into the absence of other functionality that is present in any video playing app. In the time it takes to start watching an on-demand programme, I might well have finished watched the recorded version. Just crazy.
Sky Stream is due to make a change where you can flag programmes as ones to be recorded. The recordings are kept by Sky. Helps keeping a list of programmes yet to be watched, rather than having to keep detailed records somewhere.

If only there was a list of what you want to watch somewhere on the 360..... Like a watchlist!

But the cloud recordings are only kept for 1 year and doesn't include all channels.
Virgin could do this if they wanted, Horizon software is capable of cloud recordings, is used in Ireland but cloud recording doesn't work on RTE.

Re: Virgin TV (2026)
A little 'hack' for anyone wanting to watch HD versions of 5Drama, 5USA and 5Star live on Virgin TV. You can watch them all from the 5 app. A shame VM can't just make those HD feeds available from the EPG instead of the fuzzy compressed SD ones.

But are they simply upscaled versions. The older TV series would never have been in HD.

Channel 4 have done a deal with Disney plus. So that’ll mean I can watch channel 4 stuff on Disney plus without horrendous adverts I hope !

Well presumably Disney+ pays Channel 4 for the privilege of having their content on the streamer.

Surely, you find the programme and set it for the watchlist when it’s advertised. It will then present subsequent series automatically.
I don’t understand what these difficulties with all those hoops you describe are. It’s no more difficult than recording. When you select the programme you are given options - record or add to the watchlist, so it’s just as easy whichever way you do it on the 360.
I don’t recall having difficulties with it on the TiVo software either.

"Bah gawd, that man is broken in half!"
Do we know when any decision about a merged HBO/Paramount may be mentioned or a deal for both of them combined?
at that point what will be the point for Now TV? except for sports and movies there wont be anything left for entertainment tv?

Re: Virgin TV (2026)
The main things have seen advertised by Sky recently are not HBO series, War, Crystal Lake, Yaga, The Good Daughter & Baywatch, also NBC Line Of Fire is coming soon.
They have other options , Now app is a reskin of Peacock app.
NBC Universal and Sky together are being spun off into 1 company aswell.

Yes, and Sky + ITV are merging too. It's possible that ITVX and NOW will merge - it would make sense.

The main problem is the separate apps.
With V6/Tivo, press "My Shows", select programme, select "play"/"resume playing"/"from beginning" with other options available. With on-demand in the time it takes to start, I could've watched a large chunk of the recording.
As I said, I did try it.
Tried on-demand for a couple of programmes I recorded overnight. One not available with unknown with other episodes/ The other one also not available.
That's without the hoops of registering(for some inexplicable reason), having to sign in again and again, have to switch to PC to do those, wait for the app to start with copious black or white screens, displaying in UHD when the content isn't in UHD and might not even be in HD. In all that time and could've easily watched 15 minutes of a recorded programme.
