Apart from the alerts you get with trailers on the various channels, there are TV listings magazines and your EPG to alert you to new series, which is surely how you find out about any new programme.
I think you'll find over the coming years that we have little choice in the matter - on demand is how everyone will be accessing their content.

Only if the series is currently showing and you know which channel(there isn't an all channels option). Eg I currently have a series link for "Dragons Den". There are no episodes due in next 2 weeks. As such, I wouldn't be able to set up series link with TV360.
With a on-demand only set-up, there can be no EPG.
When I tried to use on-demand yesterday as a test, the number of different hoops I had to jump through were quite ridiculous. That's before getting into the absence of other functionality that is present in any video playing app. In the time it takes to start watching an on-demand programme, I might well have finished watched the recorded version. Just crazy.
Sky Stream is due to make a change where you can flag programmes as ones to be recorded. The recordings are kept by Sky. Helps keeping a list of programmes yet to be watched, rather than having to keep detailed records somewhere.

If only there was a list of what you want to watch somewhere on the 360..... Like a watchlist!

But the cloud recordings are only kept for 1 year and doesn't include all channels.
Virgin could do this if they wanted, Horizon software is capable of cloud recordings, is used in Ireland but cloud recording doesn't work on RTE.

Re: Virgin TV (2026)
A little 'hack' for anyone wanting to watch HD versions of 5Drama, 5USA and 5Star live on Virgin TV. You can watch them all from the 5 app. A shame VM can't just make those HD feeds available from the EPG instead of the fuzzy compressed SD ones.

But are they simply upscaled versions. The older TV series would never have been in HD.

Channel 4 have done a deal with Disney plus. So that’ll mean I can watch channel 4 stuff on Disney plus without horrendous adverts I hope !
