To make it a short story .
My friend needed to change her glasses one reading one distance. Two pairs £290 . However if she had 3 £390 but with discounts it becomes 3 for £240 what idiot came up with this . Yes she ordered 3

Re: Specsavers crazy or what
Prices soared at Specsavers, so we moved to the local ASDA optician, which is easier for me and the family to get too and far, far cheaper.

Re: Specsavers crazy or what
I've had poor service at Specsavers. I switched to vision express and they have looked after me ever since.
So long as you get your order right first time https://www.amevista.com is good. If you want to faff around don't bother.

Haven't been to Asda since COVID hit , however Specsavers was/is her choice. Was told that asdas glasses come from eastern Europe guess that way they are cheap. And of course m& s is next door

Re: Specsavers crazy or what
Interesting thread, because I will shortly require another eye test (for license renewal) and my last one was at Boots . . an experience I'm not keen on repeating.
Asda is probably easiest for parking (bonus is they also sell Brandy) and at my age cheap frames are plenty good enough, I'm not out to impress anyone
2 pair required, reading & driving (although can't really tell much difference)
May enquire about new lens into existing frames if that's possible?

Re: Specsavers crazy or what
No issues with my free eye test and glasses at Specsavers, I went to Tesco(vision express) for my every day Raybans though and I only popped in for a little snack.... Walked out after spending over £400 on glasses.

Due to crappy technology, having your driving licence photo taken whilst wearing specs blocks the view of your eyes, so now they ask you to take them off, and have your licence marked "Code 01".
A neighbour was prosecuted, as she could pass the numberplate-at-a-distance test, but could not read the speedometer wearing just distance specs,

I never go for the "designer" frames, just coated, antiscratch, lightweight lens varifocals, and they always give me "NHS prices" (2 pairs for £90 last December).

Varifocals, wife has those but I've never fancied them, probably from years ago seeing people bob their heads up and down to adjust distance view to close view . . probably things are much better now but still don't fancy trying them

Re: Specsavers crazy or what
can't you just get the prescription then order the glasses online at a fraction of the cost

Don’t take this the wrong way, but try renewing your driving license online - just got mine back today (I’m 70 next month), and I applied for it last Thursday.
