Canada VPNs and Bill C-22
Putting this here because it is a current affair as well as IT Internet and Science and Technology so hard to choose .
Anybody who uses a VPN needs to watch carefully what is happening in Canada with Bill C-22
One of my VPNs is based in Canada and will be effected by this ruling and have threatened to move out of the country if it happens but I only use it for geo locks so it is not a problem who sees what I do
Bill C-22 is basically a proposed law where companies are forced to retain meta data and even allow back door access meaning you will simply not have any rights on anonymity. This is likely to be attempted all over the place and will mean in future more care will be needed when purchasing such services if anonymity is important to you
Always remember whatever you do on the net there are a number of EYES* watching you
*(The Five Eyes is an intelligence-sharing alliance between five English-speaking countries, while the expanded tiers like the Nine Eyes and Fourteen Eyes include additional European partner nations cooperating on signals intelligence.)

Re: Canada VPNs and Bill C-22
This is going to happen over here as well, Australia are looking at similar and certain states in America are also looking at it.
The EU want it as well.
This is also part of the whole "we will control what you see, what you hear and what you read" that the governments around the world want to implement by banning VPN's, restricting access to non-approved government mouth piece news broadcasters etc etc.
This thread though I think should fall under the OSA thread because it's the OSA that is being used or the variants of it in other countries.

Well that will be for a Admin to decide. I do not think it should be swallowed up but it is not up to me

Re: Canada VPNs and Bill C-22
There's no point building those 100's of data centers if they're going to remain empty.
The name of the game is collecting info, and the stuff people try to hide is probably worth more than the general everyday crap, so say hello to 'open boarders' internet style

Windscribe one of the ones that is saying they will move in the article . I like them because you can just pay for whatever servers you want. I pay $2 a month for unlimited data 1 country. You do get free too but not as good speeds

A lot of the data centres being built now are HBM nodes for AI

Isn't the world a better place when we can build homes for AI but not people
