I'm sure a lot of people play around with it, some make profit, some don't.
The ones making the most (and easiest) profit are the manipulators at the top of the chain . . . oh, and criminals apparently.
Is it fully regulated yet? Once it is, it will probably drift into the background . . like NFTs and Virtual Reality

It's not apparently, ransoms have been paid in crypto and much like nfts it can't be regulated because there's nothing behind it, at least VR was virtually there, that stuff, not so much.
I've got loads of it, don't expect to retire of the profits though, don't even bother checking on it
