Re: Moans and Pet Hates

Why do people walk behind reversing cars in a car park, if it hadn't been for my sensor, they would be in A&E.

I mean I can't look both ways at the same time, and see blind-spot they are in.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates

We are fitting out our new kitchen with Neff appliances and have hit a problem. We are trying to fit the cooker hood but.
It's a gas hob so minimum distance of 70cm to the hood, we had it a little bit higher.
The work surface is a pretty standard 90cm but that is without the worktop so add 4cm
We can't exhaust the hood so need a re-circulation system - this is the one bit we didn't select, the vendor added it. This kit needs 80.3cm from the bottom of the hood to the ceiling.
Now assume the hot is inset a bit so is 90cm from the ground - 90cm + 70cm + 80.3cm comes to 240.3cm. The standard UK ceiling is 240cm so even this would just fail but within 3mm is easy to deal with.
Problem our ceiling is 230cm so even with the absolute minimum differences this won't fit adding the 4cm for the worktop and 5cm extra gap (we are tallish) between hob and hood we don't stand a chance.
Our fitter has had similar issues so is used to cutting sections out of cooker hood chimneys. It would have helped had we known the restriction. We could have chosen an angled hood but that would cost near £600 more and it's recirculation kit is £300 compared to £90.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates

A neighbour used to have a recirc system, but on refurb it was found to be unsuitable for their kitchen. So a rectangular 5cm x 10cm section "chimney" was run along the wall and out via a new hole.

All was well until a gas safety check and the "chimney" was deemed sub-standard. The fuse was removed, and it has sat unused since before covid.

I hope you find a suitable fix in your case!

Angry Re: Moans and Pet Hates

A new thing: whilst watching an ad on a game c/o my tablet, I noticed Google Play had a notification. Curious, I checked it - said some game or other had installed.

I GAVE NO SUCH PERMISSION!!!

To coin a phrase, WTAF?! (third word is 'actual'...we all know what the other three are). I immediately uninstalled it - I forget and don't care what it was.

HOW DARE THEY? Whoever the *bleep* they are?! Ads are bad enough (and now some have developed a new trick - instead of the cross to banish the ad, you get an arrow...and another ad plays!), but to install software without the user's permission?! That is going TOO FAR IMO!!!

Re: Moans and Pet Hates

Got a text from my GP surgery yesterday afternoon offering me a free flu jab which is valid for 7 days, I went to try and book first thing this morning but there are no appointments available.
