I'd make Farage a Dame, to appear as an ugly sister in a panto near you in a few years time.

After the fire breathing Dragons were killed off, they started handing them out to anyone that talked a good game, and a few that hadn't yet been caught in nefarious activities.
Very few of them actually go to war to protect the realm do they

Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
Interesting interview in The Independent with Gideon Osborne, he said Britain's economy has fallen of a cliff since leaving and whilst rejoining anytime soon might be politically out of the question, rejoining the customs union wasn't and represented the easiest way to recover those economic losses, he also claimed there is a conspiracy among political leaders to avoid confronting the severe damage brexit caused, he also said Britain should be more humble, like the Saxon's after the Battle of Hastings

Pity he didn’t say that ten years ago.

Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
Is that the same Gideon Osborne that screwed it all up years ago?

Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
Osborne was Remain.
Politicians don't want to confront it because it's politically unwise to tell people they were wrong, and they don't want to come up with a solution.
What has actually been achieved by Brexit? We made it more difficult and expensive to trade with the EU, but we didn't get the trade deals we were promised. What did we do with all the regulatory freedom? Little.
Even where we don't have the regulation, such as the bottles on water caps, we get it anyway because multinationals find it easier to just sell the same product across Europe including the UK.

Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
I was really looking forward to taking my holidays in the sunlit uplands, but still can't book anything near and still have to fly halfway round the world for the good weather. Very disappointing, I feel they lied to us about the weather along with all the other benefits

Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
Brexit hasn’t worked as it should because the government hasn’t bothered to implement it. We are still subject to EU legislation. What happened to the ‘bonfire of regulations’? Kemi herself was meant to oversee that, so what happened, Kemi?

Re: Conservative Party's chronicles
Brexit was turned into a farce by those that didn't really want it (in fact were told by the experts it wouldn't happen), but had to be seen to be following the majority vote to leave the EU.
Which surely shows nobody should trust a politician of any party to 'do their best'

Are you including Johnson, Rees-Mogg, Gove, Badenoch, et al in those who "didn’t really want it"?
It’s alway fun to hear the "true believers" refrain of " A big boy didn’t do it and ran away" rather than face the reality of it’s impossible to satisfy an ill-defined* and non-specific set of aims besides the all-encompassing "Leave the EU"…
*deliberately

They didn't really care which way it went, they just picked a side they thought *may* be better for them in the political and tabloid meltdowns that would surely follow. None of them knew what to do when the brown stuff hit the fan

The ones with a sintilla of integrity quit, the ones with a smidgen of moral fibre tried to make the best of it, playing the hand the public had dealt them and the opportunist arse holes like bozo played both sides against the middle until they knew what way the wind blew seeking only opportunities for themselves, make no mistake though, it was always going to turn out like this, the experts said so, imagine relying on stuff you actually know and went to university to learn and for your opinions to be good enough to actually be paid enough to live on for them, as opposed to snake oil salesmen selling impossible scenarios and worse going of gut feelings that probably turn out to be indigestion
