Lightbulb A gift for my wife

Because we are fitting a new kitchen we are short of cash so expensive solutions (over £40) are out.

My wife has requested some means of being notified of an incoming call on her mobile phone when she is gardening and doesn't have her phone with her.

I have found devices available in the US but not here (ditto) but similar devices here aren't quite right, most are more amplifier type devices and are mains powered.

So now thinking either a cheap "smart" watch, there are some on Amazon that look like they will do the job, don't care too much about accuracy of steps but don't really want to share lots of data just to notify/link calls to the phone. I understand this sort of device will pair to the phone and use that. Now thinking on those lines, a simple speaker may do the job too and let her listen to material. This won't let her answer remotely but she will hear the ringer.

Any ideas/comments?

Re: A gift for my wife

The problem with a cheap smart watch may mean the phone it's linked to has to be close by.

Personally I'd just put my mobile phone in my pocket(or an old phone) when gardening or in a protective bag next to me because any smart watch isn't going to be gardening friendly and will get dirty wet or damaged very quickly.

Just try it Amazon will take it back just keep the phone as close as possible when it is left

Re: A gift for my wife

My wife is fairly insistent NOT to have her phone with her when gardening. She just needs to hear the phone ring, especially when it's me needing a lift up the hill. (A current Achilles injury can make walking up the hill with a load of shopping a bit more difficult.)

Re: A gift for my wife

I've no idea on this so don't shout

Would some cheap (refurb) ear buds do the job? No idea if they detect a phone ringing or the range?

All you want is something to 'relay' the phone ringing
