The vast majority of the time, 6 tuners is plenty enough to manage every scheduled recording. But it can and does happen, mainly on-the-hour on busy nights, when 7or more different channels are either starting or finishing (allowing for padding)

The SL-manager function allows for this, where a channel with more repeat options or better OnDemand, can be put down the order.. and series where that first showing is more important, are put up the list.

That way, TiVo/V6 is effectively told how to prioritise the scheduler and allow alternate showings. I'm sure TV360 has a method, but I've never seen or heard it explained.
If the 360 doesn't automatically choose a different duplicate broadcast in the event of clashes (and if it's not possible to search for them yourself), this would be very useful for users to know. Anybody?

Re: Virgin TV (2026)

The SL of TV 360 cannot work like a V6's as the latter is based on six tuners whereas Horizon 4, which runs Liberty Global's boxes including the TV 360, is cloud-based with no concept of physical tuners. However, cloud recordings are not allowed in the UK, so LG/VM came up with the best solution (or least worst depending on how you look at it): the Horizon software/platform was adapted to support local DVR recording - but without trying to make it look like TiVo. As a result the box processes recording requests in time order, not priority order, and does not reorder or reprioritise series like TiVo does.

Frankly it would have made zero sense to invest significant resources to build a complex fix for a dying use case (heavy linear tuner recording) whilst catch-up is rapidly expanding.

As a workaround I suggest recording only new episodes, reduce padding e.g. Start early to 0–1 minutes and Stop late to 0–2 minutes, and forget about SL for programmes with catch-up.

It’s never been a problem for me!

Not always alternative slots.
Well out of seven recordings, I would have thought you could find at least one!
