I hope everyone keeps kicking him, after all it worked for turning people away from voting to leave the EU didn't it . . oh wait, no, people still voted for it.

Re: Reform UK's chronicles

I do wonder who Farage has upset for the kid gloves to come off in the UK press.

They’ve all been more than happy to throw him softballs for the best part of 25 years. Giving him an outsized platform relative to his share of the vote.

How many properties he owns, where he lives on someone else’s generosity, and whether his properties were purchased outright or have mortgages on them doesn’t exactly require Roger Cook levels of investigative journalism.

Perhaps it’s his evasiveness when questioned, and his inability to justify how and why he got these donations?

Or is it because Badenoch seems to be getting a foothold in the polls?

Or maybe it’s because Burnham is coming over the horizon?

This type of two footed challenge on Farage could have went in at any time, prior to his election, prior to Reform becoming a thing. Probably even prior to Brexit. Dark money has never been far from Farage’s political adventures.

The media have always done a good job at having the Conservatives in their pocket, and Labour with one notable exception. Having Farage shouting from the sidelines as their useful idiot can keep the big two on their toes.

He’s definitely upset someone.

Presumably these types of questions over finances may be a reason for a private bank to withdraw their commercial services. Yet the UK press obediently went out to bat for Farage.

Multi-millionaire Reform backer George Cottrell’s contributions to the party have triggered calls for a parliamentary standards inquiry into Nigel Farage.

But who is the maverick former public school boy who reportedly refers to the Reform leader as ‘daddy’?…

… Cottrell was head of fundraising for UKIP in 2015, at the age of 22, and was at Farage’s side as the Brexit referendum result was announced the following year.

The source added that Cottrell sees Nigel Farage as a ‘father figure’ and even refers to him as ‘daddy’. He describes him as a wealthy, blue-blooded ‘chancer’ splashing money on gambling tables worldwide.

They said: ‘George is a big admirer of Nigel. They both come from a financial background, they like a drink and a smoke, and are on the same page politically.

‘He calls Nigel “Daddy”; he considers him his role model in life. That’s the dynamic of the relationship.’

As you say the media's always been a bit two-tier with Farage giving him an easy ride and opportunities a plenty to plead his case. It's an interesting question as to why this may have changed.

Maybe the sheer size of the £5m gift and Farage batting accountability for registering it away, belatedly frightened them into action?

I don't think he's upset anyone lately, although plenty are getting frothy about stuff due to the over zealous media . . . who have possibly been the recipients of a quiet 'word in their ear' from certain parties and organisations that want pressure brought to bear.

Funny how this stuff happens when there's a danger of an apple cart being upset . . . much like the mysterious appearance of a 'leaked' list of BNP members years ago

with all this mud slinging it makes me wonder if Burnham is planning a snap general election so he can implement his communist agenda

I don't think he is stupid enough to do that, he knows Labour won't get voted back in and he is power mad, especially since he like Starmer can do what they want once he is in.

I understand you believe the Establishment is after Farage, but what are your thoughts on the £5 million donation and the various freebies from Cottrell etc.?

Have you been to Manchester recently? It's more Canary Wharf than Kremlin!

Farage fans tend to think rules should not apply to him, in the same way that Farage's mate Trump thinks that rules should not apply to Balogun.

i was thinking more about Beijing given the amount of Chinese money and companies involved in Manchester

I personally don't give two hoots about it.

Is it my money? No
Has it cost me money? No
Will it reduce my bills? No
Does it change the weather? No
Will it improve my local public transport? No
Is it helping combat Global Warming? No
Can I now jump the queue for a doctors appointment? No

Is it affecting me personally in any way at all? No . . apart from laughing at all the people having apoplectic fits about it because *gasp shock horror* yet another politician is being investigated for some (alleged) naughty things

no one cares as long as he's not getting a free box at arsenal or Taylor swift concert tickets
