I have previously said iirc I think it looks strange, if I have not then I apologise because I should have said it looks strange but again if it was whilst he wasn't an MP, then it is for the people who are carrying out the investigation to make that decision.

If he should have declared it and failed to do so, then throw the book at him, but if he didn't need to and didn't declare, then politely people need to shut the hell up about it, unless they are also going to start bleating on about every other MP who has received a gift, no matter what it was, how valuable or not it was.

You cannot judge one without judging the rest!
Who said that you agree with everything Farage says or does? Playing the victim won't win you the debate. Facts and evidence are a good starting point.

This issue is about politicians following the country's laws, with a sub-issue of the reputation of the person making the gift in this instance.

If a politician of whatever party has broken the rules by not declaring a gift, then that politician should be called out. And no, we don't need to complain about every gift to every MP in order to point out the rule-breaking here.

Exactly but they won't treat him the same because he is "God's Gift" apparently.

If only all MP's were treated the same and held to the same standards.

It would also be nice to see MP's held accountable for lying, but that will never happen because they would all need to be held accountable for lying.

Won't treat Starmer the same as Farage? Starmer paid back the gifts, do you want Farage to pay back his £millions of gifts and money? That would be called treating them equally but would bankrupt Farage.

I don't play the victim, because I am not a victim of anything on here apart from maybe being misunderstood but that happens everywhere, so nothing new and I am quite used to it.

And Farage is being investigated to see if he has broken any of the laws and requirements, until that matter is resolved, it is something that people will continuously bleat on about but again ignoring everything from other mp's, it's quite frankly hypocritical of people to complain about farage but not others.

As for the "donators/gifters" reputation again, unless there is a ban on that person making "donations/gifts" then it has to be treated like anyone else who "donates/gifts", after all apparently he "donated/gifted" to try and get his Crypto to be used, meanwhile Lord Alli apparently wanted press and security passes for himself and others to Parliament and wanted it kept secret apparently.

Again don't judge one without judging all, if you judge one because of "possible" alternative motives then you have to judge them all as having "possible" alternative motives.

Doesn't matter what the gift is, they should refuse it because it makes them look like they can be bought, that is the problem, it doesn't matter what the gift is, they shouldn't be accepting them!

He paid back a small amount of what he received!

"The repaid items covered by Starmer included:

Taylor Swift Tickets: Six tickets (four from Universal Music Group and two from the Football Association), totaling approximately £3,398.

Horse Racing: Four tickets to the Doncaster Races from the Arena Racing Corporation, costing £1,939.

Personal Support: An £839 clothing rental agreement and a one-hour hair and makeup session for his wife, Lady Victoria Starmer."

Nothing about the decorating of Number 10, nothing about the house/flat for his children, nothing about the football matches, nothing about the full clothes, glasses etc.

And he apparently said that is all he has to pay until a new set of rules is put in place.

Yeah receive tens of thousands or more in "gifts" and claim you only need to pay back around £6k when you get busted for trying to sell yourself!

Re: Reform UK's chronicles

Just as an aside, I am sure it was total coincidence that Coutts "de-banked" Nige whilst he was getting gifts and funds from a dodgy convicted fraudster crypto-dealer based in Montenegro, who had said he (in the past) made his living working for offshore banks, including “enabling and promoting aggressive tax avoidance programmes”.

The Liberal Democrats have requested an investigation about Farage's undisclosed benefits in kind from George Cottrell aka Posh George. Sir Alistair Graham, former chair of the Committee on Standards in Public Life, yesterday also called for a new inquiry into Farage following the claims over Cottrell’s provision of benefits and assess them alongside the £5mn undeclared gift from Harborne. But it's not been opened yet.

The £5m gift from the Thai-based crypto currency billionaire Christopher Harborne is currently being investigated by Daniel Greenberg, the parliamentary standards commissioner.

There's no rule that says we have to simultaneously criticise every politician for receiving gifts when we discuss a recent news article about a particular politician.

I'm not condoning politicians' actions on gifts; I think we're on the same page here. I believe it's a bad look to be in receipt of free concert tickets if you're an MP or PM. But it's false equivalence to place Farage's huge undisclosed gifts with smaller gifts that others have received and notified late. And from a reputational perspective, as a political leader, it really does matter who you associate with and importantly, who you receive gifts from. If a gifter has a criminal record, or a father who spied for the KGB, that's not a good look for the recipient.

Pffffft! What an amateur - only one hundred thousand pounds worth of freebies over five years?

Nige does more than that each year…

Re: Reform UK's chronicles

Then why did you post a comparison?

(btw, apologies for an error in my previous post when I said Nige got over £100k in freebies each year - it was actually over £180k in the last 8 months…)
