Re: Starmer’s chronicles
Riddle me this, Mr Capitalist, if someone paid you a one off £5m, and someone else pays £96k a year plus expenses elsewhere, which paymaster are you more likely to do bidding for today?

When they're not even an MP? What bidding would that be? Trade Unions? Political Animal Lobby(over £1m to Labour)? £1.2m interest free loan with no regular repayments. Over £600K in ILLEGAL 3rd party donations to Labour from one person, with no prosecutions of course. Clothing put down as miscellaneous Office supplies? I'm sure the list goes on and on

100% that’s why it’s preposterous to pretend someone wouldn’t.

Oh I’m sure Nige isn’t the only one at it. It’s just this one is pretty egregious.
Political party funding isn’t quite as bad as handing over money to individuals - lots of that will just be flushed down the loo in campaigning and day to day activities there won’t be many making proper coin out of it individually. Unless you’re Peter Murrell I guess.

He was the owner/leader of a Political Party, who publicly stated he wasn’t going to stand as an MP, was given £5 million by a crypto billionaire, decided he was going to stand as an MP, and since then has assiduously lobbied for crypto…
If he ever goes to the Lords, his title will be the Count of Dodgy Crypto…

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
Maybe he invested all that Crypto in a ' get even richer faster' scheme (scam) and has lost it all. I wouldn't like to stand up and tell people that had happened

If you favour a banana republic approach so much, I fear the UK is not the right country for you. Most of the country doesn't favour a banana republic approach and the owner of Reform UK is under investigation.

I would never sell out for £5m. And whilst posting, I would like to point out that Brexit has been a huge success.

I get you don't like Farage, that is fine, but if you want to call Tether a "Dodgy Crypto" then you need to call all of them "Dodgy" no matter who made it, no matter why it was made, they must all be classed as "Dodgy".
The main reason I can find for Farage not backing and wanting to stop the Bank of England from generating it's own "Stable Coin" is because in doing so, you would be required to:
1: Hand over all your privacy on usage of the coin because it would be tracked
2: Require Digital ID to purchase and Spend
3: Be able to be removed from you at a moments notice because you would be forced to use a "UK Government" created wallet
4: Be restricted to only "Government Approved" merchants
5: Be Linked to the value of the Euro not the pound because the EU wouldn't allow a "Britcoin" to be used in the EU without it being linked to the price of the Euro.
I am sorry but the whole reason behind Crypto is to be away from the central banks, the governments over reach and spying, the ability to obtain it without purchasing and many other things.
I would not trust the UK Government no matter which party it was with control over that, I don't even trust them with my money as it is but have practically no choice but to allow them to see into my bank, what I am spending money on etc just like every other person in this country.
Sorry but Farage is right to not want a Britcoin, but if he tries to push Tether as a coin for the UK, he will be wrong for that, the same if they tried to push XRP and others.

Aren't unregulated crypto currencies just means for criminals and rogue nations to move money around undetected, without the need to buy a Turkish barbers?

Nope they are used by all sorts of people including governments when they want to reduce the chances of a transaction being traced, as anyone who says Crypto exchanges cannot be traced, don't understand how they work.
It's not difficult to trace a Crypto transaction after all, when you move funds, each time you do it, there is an entry to a ledger, it doesn't matter who own's the currency etc there is just a transaction ID linked to the funds from "Wallet A to Wallet B" and all you need to know is one end of that Transaction and you have the whole trail.
Crypto get's used for all sorts of things, yes bad things, some very very very bad things, but those sorts of things also get purchased with real cash, bank transfers, jewels etc, it can always be traced, unless you are using something like "Uncut raw diamonds" and other stones/gems which makes it more difficult but still not impossible to someone with the ability to trace them via minerals etc in the stones.
People give Crypto a hard time because they don't understand or don't like it because Governments cannot control it as easily or typically as easy as they can with cash and other forms of currency.
My only issue with Crypto is the volatility of the price, with the likes of Bitcoin hitting over $100k per coin and now down at what $80k a coin??, imagine buying 100 coins at $90k each and losing $10k on each, and with the way the Governments of the world are going, it's going to go down even further because of Net "let's destroy the global economies" Zero.
This is why when/if I ever manage to find a company willing to give me a job with permanent home working due to medical issues and caring responsibilities, I will start buying £100 worth of Gold every month because when the Governments cripple the economies which is going to happen and cash become worthless which is going to happen, I will have something that will be worth something.

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
Crypto tends to go up & down at the behest of Musk and his crypto mates.
It's like buying shares, you never know when some big business mogul is going to shaft you
