HMRC gives trans people access to VIP hotline
|
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/co...o-vip-hotline/
Quote:
Transgender taxpayers have been given lifetime access to an HMRC hotline reserved for MPs and members of the Royal family.
The special tax service, known as “Public Department 1” (PD1), provides a dedicated phone line for high-profile taxpayers. It typically answers their calls around twice as fast as those made to the tax office’s general customer service line.
People who legally change their gender with a Gender Recognition Certificate, an official document confirming their transition, have their records restricted by the tax service – meaning only a select few officials can access them.
They are then told to contact PD1 with “questions about your tax or National Insurance”, as outlined in guidance published on HMRC’s website.
HMRC insisted the policy was necessary because the records of transgender people required “greater protection” to ensure confidentiality under equality laws.
|
I didn’t know that the BBC owned HMRC. Or is it the other way round, appropriately?

Re: The gender ideology thread
Worth pointing out that those who actually have a GRC are a very tiny minority of our so-called ‘transgender’ population. Most people who say they’re transgender are just crossdressers, a few are body-modders (mainly hormone treatment, sometimes surgery), and a very few go the whole hog and apply to get their documents changed. In these cases the State has to pretend it doesn’t know that a man is a man (or vice versa) and treat him as a woman, and that involves as few public sector workers as possible getting access to any official record that might give the game away.
You can put this down to the law of unintended consequences behaving as normal rather than any deliberate attempt to plate favourites.

The system for VIPs is to avoid all and sundry looking up their details. How could that happen where all and sundry don't even know a persons name, never mind that they exist. No valid purpose to this.

Like I sort of said. Infiltrated by the BBC.

Re: The gender ideology thread
Further bad news for the cult of gender woo woo:
For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers
Judicial Review of the Scottish Prison Service Policy for the Management of Transgender People in Custody Operational Guidance.
scotcourts.gov.uk/judgments/#/
https://x.com/i/status/2067926338590134334
Essentially Scottish prison guidance which has sought to conflate trans rights with women's rights to same sex spaces is unlawful. Something that was glaringly obvious to anyone with even a loose awareness of the Supreme Court ruling last year.

Re: The gender ideology thread
They only need to send 1 or 2 trans "women" to mens prison to weed out those who really believe they are female

“Waiting for guidance” has been the standard excuse ever since FWS, despite the fact that the law is the law with or without guidance notes. Any number of other service providers still trying to go ‘further’ than the law, to be ‘inclusive’ in line with their ‘values’ ought to be reading today’s judgment and then having a serious chat with their in-house legal department rather than letting the blue-haired millennial in HR walk them off a cliff.

Not attempting to excuse the SNP - who have blazed a trail in this regard with taxpayer money - similarly MPs at Westminster proposing to reject the EHRC guidance. As you rightly say - it's not creating law which is already there, and ruled on by the SC.
MPs who disagree with it should push to change the primary legislation rather than be (often wilfully) ignorant about the status of guidance. Or better, put it in a manifesto, have people vote on it, then see where they go from there. (I suspect we both know, but that is the process).

I quite agree, EDM240 is the most egregious piece of performative student union politics to disgrace the Commons in many years. We’re lucky in that Westminster has so many more members that it’s functionally very much more difficult for this sort of groupthink to become endemic. Holyrood has an awful lot of power which can be marshalled on the votes of just 65 people.
Nadia Witless and co are of course signalling their progressive virtues with an early day motion precisely because they know there isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell of them ever successfully campaigning to change EA2010.

Re: The gender ideology thread
WOW Social media, gaming, internet in general is so dangerous that is has to be banned for under 16's but anyone from the age of 11 can go to the doctors and be put on puberty blockers, permanently damaging their body according to this ludicrous and pathetic government!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/...ocking%20drugs.
Puberty blockers are dangerous and should only be used in very rare situations, they should not be used because we have a school system focussed on telling boy's, "you are a boy, you are a danger to society" or irresponsible parents telling kids, "you were supposed to be a girl" filling kid's heads with BS information and making them feel like they are wrong for being a boy or a girl.
Now before anyone jumps down my throat, I know there are people who strongly feel and believe they are in the wrong body and there is some medical evidence to suggest that, it's a real thing and not a mental health issue but it's a very very very small number of the people who claim to be "trans" that actually, find themselves with the medical evidence to back it up.
People can say they are what they want, but kid's should be left the hell alone and allowed to grow up to become adults before making any decisions like that, which can do so much damage later on in life when they realise they were wrong, because there are a lot of who change their minds in later life.
Honestly I need to win the lottery and get out of this insanity filled island!!

I don't do the lottery (although the wife does the postcode thing) so I'm still looking for a nice cave somewhere in the Shetlands area.

QFT.
Except that there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever of anyone ever having been born in the wrong body. The claim that humans have a gender soul that is distinct from their physical body, and in some cases the gender soul and the physical body are different, is entirely metaphysical. It is a question for philosophers and theologians, not doctors.
People who truly believe that they are a sex other than their embodied reality are either porn-addled fetishists (mostly this is the cross-dressing men), trauma survivors (mostly young women) or gaslit, confused children with munchausen parents. In the middle are the tedious ‘nonbis’ who are generally attention seeking teenagers and young adults who will grow out of it if ignored.
Puberty blockers were designed for the treatment of precocious puberty in young children. They delay onset until the correct age, they are then withdrawn and puberty proceeds as normal, so the child has puberty and becomes a normally presenting adult. When you give puberty blockers to children who are of an age when they are *supposed* to be going through puberty, you cause irreparable damage to their normal physical development. You chemically castrate them and prevent them from developing normal adult bodies. As they grow older you then have to use plastic surgery to simulate adult genitalia in some way, but this does not repair the damage, especially in young girls who have their nascent breast tissue removed.
The detransition stories coming from the USA now - where the medicalisation of this madness got way further than it has here - are absolutely heartbreaking. I simply cannot believe how this batsh*t ideology has so infected supposed adults so badly that they’re allowing this irreversible experimentation on children. Bookmark this thread, because 10-15 years from now, that will be the scandal filling the airwaves, and the next generation of politicians will be the ones shaking their heads sadly and saying ‘if only we’d known’ and ‘never again’ and ‘lessons will be learned.’

Re: The gender ideology thread
QFT.?
In terms of the whole brain thing, I think it's fairly recent but they have found there are differences, as to whether than is because "they want to find something" so do find something or if it's genuinely something different.
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8955456/
It's a touchy subject but for less than 0.05% of the global population or less than 0.5% of the global population, the way it's pushed down peoples throats you would think it was for something in the region of 30% of the global population.

Unfortunately (for the trans lobby) studies like this one - and including this one - suffer from multiple issues, including the inability of other researchers to replicate results, small sample size and failure to control for other factors, such as, in this case, the sexual orientation of participants. The affirmative language used in the abstract is the first major red flag as to the presuppositions of the researchers who produced this study.
It is fair to say that the very idea of ‘brain sex’ along with others (e.g. ‘hormone sex’) exists so as to attempt to muddy the actually very clear way in which we classify sex in all mammals, including humans. This is not based on measurements of brains, hormones or anything else, it is a simple observation of which of two developmental pathways the body is organised for - and there are only two developmental pathways available, one which produces large gametes, i.e. eggs, the other produces small, i.e. sperm, and the names for these two pathways are ‘female’ and ‘male’.
