Not often you see a Tankie and a Farage-supporting Berks Conservative agree - congratulations…
(even if you’ve approached the agreement from different directions - Seph thinks Starmer is too left-wing, jf thinks he’s too right-wing… )

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
As a pensioner who watched Papa freeze to death, I also wish Starmer an emotionally painful and belittling downfall.
BUT - if Burnham’s current attempt to get support from 200+ MPs runs into trouble, don’t yet write Starmer off.

The "from accounts" reference is from the TV series "Colin[a dog] From Accounts". She was never in accounts.
Don't see why a big shift in policies should happen as a one-off result of a by-election in one constituency. Doesn't have the mandate.

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
From the little I've bothered reading, it seems Burnham will be making the same 'promises' that Starmer made . . probably followed by the same U-Turns due to the same lack of cash.
Also pushing for HS2 to continue to Manchester . . . a vote loser if ever I saw one

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
HS2 should have gone to Leeds! Nah - Carth is right; HS2 is an absolute example of what’s wrong with the political class; they are as bats as the bat tunnel. They do not know how to let a contract and the contractors are wise to the governments’ stupidity.
And look at what these projects spawn: huge speeding fines along the A43 where you go through the HS2 works at Brackley..

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
Just imagine if all the HS2 money & materials spent to shave 5 minutes off a train journey was instead ploughed into social housing, NHS, dentists (lol) . . in fact anything that would help (rather than decimate) communities

Not about reducing the times. It's about reducing the traffic on the existing lines.

Didn't all the strikes and cancellations go far enough then?
