Re: Starmer’s chronicles
If Burnham stands in Makerfield, he probably wants to check the recent Local Council results…
In 2024, Labour won with a comfortable 5,400 majority - in this month's local council elections, Labour lost all twenty two seats they were defending, whilst Reform won twenty four of those contested, and one went independent.

Agreed, it's not the biggest majority. I won't shed a tear to see the back of AB either - always comes across as a bit cocky and arrogant for my liking.

He knows how to get stuff done - at least at Manchester level. Unlike Starmer who gets 4/5 of 5/8 of FA done.
But how much of Burnham's efforts will continue to shaft Middle England? Economic growth is #1.

Anyway, back on topic…
Streeting appears to be chickening out of challenging Starmer…

The intention for transferring 50% of the property and then selling her remaining 25% interest was to avoid higher stamp duty. That is why she considered she didn't have to pay it. Why on earth would you transfer 50% of the ownership? Leaving behind 25% for the ex-husband, who can do nothing with it. He can't sell it. Who's left paying the mortgage? The mortgage provider can't(and shouldn't) be too happy with transferring of ownership. That is their security on the loan.

Economic growth is never No 1 to a Brexiteer. Sovereignty is. Interestingly, the UK's economy actually grew last month when it was expected to shrink. And wage growth is exceeding the rise in the cost of living. But Starmer js not getting the message across.
Manchester seems to be an attractive destination for businesses and its airport and trams are efficient and growing. Burnham seems effective at getting cash out of central government but what would he do when in power? He would be a better communicator and be more likeable than Starmer but there's far more to the job than that.

Apart from the bit I've highlighted, it seems you agree with me
As a Brexiteer, economic growth is the imperative, making best use of our sovereignty, which has to come first in order to do the other.
Nobody has put up numbers, jhow, when etc of how being close to the EU will provide economic growth. My understanding is that our exports to the EU have fallen from 47% to 41% since Brexit. So all we have to do is make that 6% up elsewhere through having stuff to sell and good salesmen.

Talking of infighting, what’s the latest on Habib’s claims about the million quid bung Harbourne allegedly gave Farage (and Boris Johnson) in 2022?

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
No idea about that crap, but over the years I have noticed that people will hold onto damaging information until the time is 'convenient' to throw it out there.
oh, and it's like a schoolyard scrap, one piles in they all pile in

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
It would be pretty damaging if Labour lost both the by-election and the Manchester Mayorality…
