Re: Virgin TV (2026)

I haven't got a V6, I have the 360 box. However without seeing the email or onscreen entries for the channels, I suggest that they are referring to the FAST aka streaming channels.

The channels would be between 220 and 254 on the V6 boxes (FAST channels 277, 278 and 279 were only available on the Stream and 360 boxes.)

The other channels being removed would be FAST music channels 296, 297, 298 and 299, FAST Movie channels 450 and 451, also possibly the 4 FAST Rakuten Movie channels on 461,462,463, and 464 and the two FAST Sports channels on 540 and 541.

Exactly. I doubt that most will care and those that do can continue watching via alternative means.

I expect the next part of the 'stick' will be to remove premium movie channels, then premium sport before starting on basic entertainment channels.

Oh well! they run much more smoothly on a Roku stick anyway.

As I understand it. If Netflix is included in the subscription, it is included in the broadband element rather than the TV element of the package. Broadband only customers can add Netflix, presumably to watch on their phone but that won't prevent it from being watched on any other device.

Same.

And it’ll declutter the EPG, they don’t have programme schedule data so are a waste of screen estate.

Re: Virgin TV (2026)

There seems less and less reason to stick with Virgin, given almost all channels people watch are available elsewhere anyway. Its almost like they want people to leave.

The FAST channels do have program schedule data on the 360 and Stream boxes.

On the horizon based boxes you can also set up to 6 profile lists (favourites) so you can hide EPG channels from the selected profile

Virgin gives you a choice of a couple of dozen or so FAST channels. Across platforms made for this type of service there are hundreds to choose from. Why settle for what Virgin offers? I've never used Virgin's clunky EPG based access to FAST channels.

As it seems that Virgin carries these for a little extra ad revenue, coupled with the fact that the majority of TV users still seem to prefer the V6, removing channels just starves Virgin of the extra income. Let them play their games and pay the price.

I thought everyone except me was raving over these streaming channels. Maybe this is a sign of things to come - a bit sooner than I thought!
