Cool Any speed upgrades in sight at all with VM?

Bonjour!

Can anyone advise if there are any planned upgrades in sight with Virgin Media this year, specifically for 1Gbit service?

I have been on what seems like forever on the 1Gbit service and to be honest now my contract is up in May I am contemplating ditching the service mainly due to the price and also due to the fact that my £20 unlimited 5G sim gives me 950Mb down and 120Mbit up speeds, crazy get faster upload on a wireless 5G connection than on my VM 1Gbit connection and if i buy a decent WiFi 6 or whatever its called adapter for PC and use mobile tethering will more than likely exceed 1Gbit down on the 5G service.

I am paying £59 per month at the moment and 7% increase in Apr and then VM expecting to put the price up again in May when my contract ends, no thank you VM.

If what is reported online is true that VM made no operating profit in 2025 I don't have much hope for an upgrade anytime soon.

It's a shame as I have been with VM since the 10Mbit days (probably earlier if you check my sign up date to this forum geez that long), but they just seem to be getting less and less competitive in 2026, almost feels like they have taken their eye off the ball or the big wigs at the top just don't care and feels like the company have completely lost their way.

Please give me some good news about upgrades with VM this year!

Tia

As far as I know, there are no global upgrades, but various upgrade projects are rolling out. This from December 2025. https://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/...llion-premises

Depending on what area you are in, you will get FTTP before 2030, hopefully quite a bit sooner.
