Most of this article is then dedicated to trying to work out if it really is the lowest in London's history. Either way, it is certainly amongst the lowest figures ever.
It also makes London, given its size, one of the world's safest cities. 9 million people live in the city, so it's hardly a backwater. It's safer than Paris, Berlin and pretty much all American cities.
