Certainly doesnt always mean they will be of a higher quality.
Well I have gotton VHS tapes Steve where they ruined the video by contrasting it down and making it look flat,etc...

On a DEMO tape I have gotton a few they didnt do that on!!

1 is HOUSE ARREST (1997) - There were 3 copies released in 1997 . I had 2 of them and both the video was horrible......

The DEMO tape looks nice (The DEMO was done on 11/15/96 (It has the date on the label))

I would expect a DEMO/PROMO tape to look/sound better as they are trying to sell it.....

Re: Looking for a cassette.....

The reality is that as demo or promo copies are only issued to promote the movie they have only been viewed a handful of times, where as a retail copy will be a copy of a copy made in big batches and viewed hundreds of time so the quality will have degraded a lot.

That's really the only reason. Promo copies will be run off in small quantities and direct from the master.

I have a couple of first pressing records, with plain labels and white slip covers and yes they do sound better but only as they didn't get used much and as the name suggests we're the first copies pressed.
