Re: Starmer’s chronicles
Both could be life threatening to be fair. Human error making the assumption somebody said they were fine, or misinformation put into the system isn't a little hiccup.

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
So just seen this on the news "Starmer to require all UK adults to own government-issued digital ID"
Well if there is a charge to get it they can go forth in short jerky movements. I don't want one, i don't need one as i have a driving licence that works fine as an ID.

Don't worry about it, once the criminal side of society get involved you'll probably have at least three.
You won't know about them though

Well welcome to authoritarianiasm.
U.K. adults already have IDs. Passports or driving licences. Which the government already have details of.
Governmental digital IDs are about control, nothing more, nothing less.
You, or more importantly our children, just wait in the future when you want to buy something, or do something, or go somewhere and to do it you have to show your Government ID. And you do………and computer says no………
That’s what it’s for.

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
Are they going to make it a legal requirement for this new ID to be carried at all times? If they don’t what’s the point ?

It will be for whenever you need to prove who you are. So jobs, opening bank accounts, e.t.c.

You already need photo id and proof of address to open a bank account and employers have to perform the checks for your eligibility to work generally again photo id
How does this improve on current checks ?

It doesnt.
If it were optional, fair enough, but forced ? Unnecessary big brother.

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
Yet another step in us becoming the next North Korea. I never thought it would be Labour that would push this level of control over the public.

Keir Starmer has put me on the same side of an argument as Jeremy Corbyn, the git.

'How will it go down in the Commons?' is my question. I can see a voluntary scheme would be helpful for those who do not drive or hold passports and could make it easier for them to access banking services, verify websites etc.
