Oh, nice try!
I just checked my spam folder. In there were a few messages warning me that if I didn't renew my email account by the 4th, it would be shut down, shock horror.
Even if the sender hadn't had a nonsensical URL, I was checking today, and guess what, the account is as active as ever - there were some legit messages. I can understand newbies getting worried about this, but I've been in IT since the days when MS-DOS came on a 5 1/4" floppy. Deleted forever.

Re: Oh, nice try!
My junk folder has improved a lot in recent years. I sometimes get a flurry of shit mail but it's always managed expertly in the junk folder. Windows and Gmail have upped their game for me.
A bad note sometimes mail that was destined for my inbox end up in the junk folder but that's a minor inconvenience I can always check.

Re: Oh, nice try!
I've just realised what I sound like:
Ee, when I were a lad...
Still, I sometimes miss the old days. Is it me, or was it more fun back in the 8-bit days?
Or should that be 'I miss the old days sometimes'? Did I split an infinitive there? Come back, Gene Roddenberry, all is forgiven!

Re: Oh, nice try!
Pfffft...
Kids today, etc., etc...
In the early 80s (working on Honeywell Level 6 and DPS/6, RPG2), I used to fly out most weeks with a couple of 8 inch floppys in my hand luggage (taken out before going through the scanners, with a cover letter from the Company lawyer stating they were not to be x-rayed) with the software updates for installation and user testing for the offices in Brussels, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, Bochum, and last, but very definitely least, Aberdeen.
I remember when we got our first Compaq luggable (late 83 or early 84), we had to Customs and Export documentation to get it out of, and back into, the UK.
