When asked if he had spoken President Zelensky about his offer to buy more Patriot missiles, Trump added: “Listen, when you start a war, you got to know that you can win the war, right?"

He continued: "You don’t start a war against somebody that’s 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles.”

He also said that the missle that hit Ukraine killing dozens a couple of days ago was just 'a mistake'.

Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele said Monday that he does not plan to return a Maryland man whom the Trump administration mistakenly deported to his country, as the U.S. judicial system barrels toward a potential constitutional crisis over the standoff.

“How can I return him to the United States?” Bukele said in an Oval Office meeting with President Donald Trump, responding to a reporter’s question. “I smuggle him into the United States? Of course I’m not going to do it. The question is preposterous. How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States?”

Kilmar Abrego García, a Salvadoran immigrant who is married to a U.S. citizen, was deported last month to El Salvador’s brutal mega-prison, CECOT. His case has become a focal point of the Trump administration’s attempt to deport more than 1 million immigrants from the United States — and the court battles over the legality of that campaign. The Supreme Court on Thursday backed a lower-court order that requires the White House to “facilitate” the release of Abrego García, but the justices stopped short of saying a lower-court judge could order the administration to “effectuate” his return.

Trump officials suggested Monday that the administration was not bound to follow court orders to return Abrego García from El Salvador.

“No court in the United States has a right to conduct the foreign policy of the United States,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said during the Oval Office meeting. But the administration in court proceedings also has conceded that Abrego García’s removal was the result of an “administrative error.”…

… Trump also told reporters Monday that he was open to deporting U.S. citizens if they had committed violent, criminal acts.

“If it’s a homegrown criminal, I have no problem,” Trump said in the Oval Office. “We’re studying the laws right now. Pam [Bondi, the attorney general] is studying. If we can do that, that’s good.”…

… The Trump administration had acknowledged in court proceedings that Abrego García was subject to a withholding order forbidding his removal to El Salvador — and that the removal to El Salvador was therefore illegal. But government attorneys said Sunday night that the administration is not required to engage El Salvador’s government in efforts to facilitate Abrego García’s return, arguing that he “is no longer eligible” for the protection from deportation that should have prevented him from being sent to El Salvador in the first place.

The Trump administration has already spent $155 billion more than former President Joe Biden did over the same period of time after their inaugurations, according to Treasury Department data. And Elon Musk is now claiming that his Department of Government Efficiency has only managed to save $150 billion.

That means that despite tens of thousands of government workers being fired, agencies shuttered, contracts cut and federal services dramatically reduced, the current administration has already racked up an additional $5 billion of debt than the Biden administration in the same space of time.

And it’s not clear that DOGE has saved anywhere near $150 billion. Every time Musk posts “receipts” to show off DOGE’s savings, they’re riddled with errors.

He initially vowed to save $2 trillion by slashing government agencies and social benefits, than halved that to $1 trillion. Now he claims he has only cut a fraction of that.

The increased spending by the Trump administration was discovered in an analysis by the Wall Street Journal of daily financial statements issued by the Treasury Department.

Costs are continuing to climb even as Trump and the Republicans aim to negotiate a $5 trillion tax cut that’s expected to add an additional $5.7 trillion to the government’s debt over the next decade. The current debt is already $37.3 trillion.

Many of the government’s costs are fixed social benefits that continue to climb. Social Security is now paying a cost-of-living boost and an increase in the number of retiring baby boomers. Another huge cost is servicing the federal debt.

The highest payments in 2024 were Social Security at $1.5 trillion, interest on the debt at $881 billion, the Department of Defense at $807 billion and Medicare at $865 billion.

Social Security payments are $32.7 billion higher since Trump took office. The U.S. has also paid out $25.5 billion more in interest on the debt since Trump returned to the White House than in the same period last year, the Journal reports.

The Trump administration has told Washington's G7 allies that it won’t support a statement condemning Russia’s recent missile strike on the Ukrainian city of Sumy, saying that it's “working to preserve the space to negotiate peace,” Bloomberg reports.

Canada, which currently holds the G7 presidency, told other members that without U.S. backing, issuing the statement would not be possible, according to Bloomberg’s sources.

A draft of the statement reportedly described the attack on Sumy as proof that Russia was determined to continue the war.

Russia’s attack on Sumy, which it carried out on Palm Sunday, killed at least 35 civilians and injured at least 119, according to Ukrainian authorities.

It does when they're doing it in the US. They're removing any such content from their libraries and requesting (demanding?) that we do it, too. Well, they know what they can do with that idea. People have fought and died for the right to be whatever they choose to be, and will be damned if they'll give it up. Myself, I'm cis-male and hetero, but I don't give a toss that other people aren't.

On a brighter note, Harvard has refused the government's demands - and rightly so IMO. They hold that no government has any right to dictate what will and won't be taught. I agree.
