More HD channels to be removed from satellite

Sky has confirmed several HD channel closures on it's satellite platform. Sky Glass & Sky Stream are not affected, nor are the SD versions:

The channels affected are U&W, U&Yesterday & Sky History 2.

In contrast Sky Sports Racing becomes HD only.

Not affecting me as I don't watch any of those. However that is a scary prospect of closing the HD rather than SD. Almost forcing people on to the streaming platform now to recieve them in HD.

While Sky definitely is and always has been cutthroat about forcing customers onto the packages it wants to sell and shutting down the stuff it doesn’t, in this case it is the U channels’ owner, BBC Studios, that is discontinuing them in HD on satellite.

No idea why Sky’s doing the same with its history channel.

I wonder if ''U&Dave'' is set to launch on Freesat soon?

Yes it's the framing of that article on RXTV Info.

I mean if it is true, and they want people to move to Stream from Q, they really need to sort out that 'upgrade' path. The price I was quoted for Stream was almost twice the price of the renewal deal I for Q. I tried a number of different routes, but got the same answer. Who in the right mind would make the switch?

I would be happy to swap, but I'll just wait until you're forced off and they'll hopefully offer a better deal.
