Re: Actor Gene Hackman, wife and dog found dead at home

Coroner says Gene Hackman and wife both died of natural causes, but several days apart
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cvgeqd2lqx0t

Quote:
Hackman's cause of death has been ruled as cardiovascular disease, with advanced Alzheimer's disease contributing to his death.

Arakawa died of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome - a disease carried by infected rodents

Authorities say Arakawa likely died several days before Hackman, and it's possible he was not fully aware because of his advanced Alzheimer's
.
At least there was no suspicious circumstance as, still very sad The dogs autopsy results aren't complete yet

As she had suddenly died of a rare illnes and he had dementia, he would have been left without his carer, so maybe he put the dog into the cupboard/wardrobe?

Without his carer I imagine that he wouldn't have been eating or taking his medication and died a week later.

Very sad, it really does pay to keep an eye on disabled people and their carers.

Yes, elderly people too. I know people lead busy lives, but just a phone call every few days to see if everything is ok. Even an unanswered text could be used as a red flag if prior arrangements are made.

Not always that simple. Took us 3 days to realise no one had heard from my dad. As it wasn't uncommon for him to forget his mobile or not respond to a text. Not until my aunt called and said have you heard from your dad that I started to panic.

Re: Actor Gene Hackman, wife and dog found dead at home

News now saying that she died from a rare disease caught from rats & mice and, whilst it is a rare disease, 40% of people develop serious complications from it.

Would a rich couple have a rat/mouse infestation??

Also now says he died of a heart attack two weeks after she had died. He did have heart problems, so I still think that his heart attack could have been caused by his wife not being able to give him his medication for a fortnight.

As mentioned in my post, he had Alzheimers, he wouldn't have known what was going on,
