As has already been pointed out to you, Sky Q can function quite happily without the transponders.

Not if Sky decommission the box you can't. Satellite TV will not be here for much longer, I'm afraid. Google it and you will see.

Another of your made up posts.
Show us evidence that Sky intend to 'decommission' Sky Q boxes.

Also, you really should try reading what people actually post.
Perhaps you just failed to comprehend, Sky Q can work just fine without satellite.

As to "much longer" even if satellite ended in 2029 (which is possible) that's still years away.

You are arguing about nothing. I know very well that 2029 is years away - four years, to be precise, which is not long, is it?

And I would point out that if Sky failed to renew their transponder contracts, which is highly likely, given the expense, there would be no satellite TV.

But the boxes will still work - big deal. But Sky will want their subscribers to move over to Sky Stream to keep the income coming in. That’s why the likelihood is that they will decommission the Sky Q boxes.

Re: Virgin TV (2025)

It’s amusing when someone says "to be precise", then gives a rough* figure…

* "four years", instead of (to be precise) 3 years, 10 months, and twelve days

It's what they did last time a STB was decommissioned in order to transfer people across in an orderly fashion.

So to use another vague phrase you'll love - its not going away anytime soon.

Yes, I know all that. But the ‘foreseeable’ future is 2029/30 according to all the reports I have seen. Yes, it is true that formal announcements from Sky about what happens after that date have not been made, but the writing is on the wall.

Hope springs eternal, I suppose, so you keeping on wishing and hoping and praying - but it would be nice if members of this forum would give realistic advice to those requesting it. The commitment given by Sky is time limited. Anything beyond that is wishful thinking.

At a guess, live TV channels forever?

I am giving practical and sensible advice that there is no guarantee that satellite TV via Sky Q will still be available after 2030 (possibly a little earlier).

I think you are providing false hope in suggesting that this is unlikely.

A poor & inaccurate guess. Over 90% of what I watch I download.
The rest is football. Over 50% of that football is now streamed (On Sky Q !).

I have quite carefully stated (at least twice) that Sky Q will function without satellite.
Nowhere at any point have I stated what you keep trying to imply.
You are just making up what people say as you go along (and I'm pretty sure you also mean 'likely', not 'unlikely').

This also has nothing at all to do with Virgin TV, so time to move on, you're wasting my time, and everyone elses.
