No it's a Welsh labour government issue .  as it is a problem all over the principality. Basically they are the government at all levels. Shame they can't pass the buck.

It’s not been a problem for me. Generally people around here don’t moan about the NHS like that. Most likely it’s a regional Health Borough issue than across

The point I was making is the Welsh NHS hasn’t been given any instructions surrounding ‘block booking’. As for the service I can only go on what I’ve experienced and the FB group in my town (where everyone has something to say about everything) people are generally complimentary about NPT, Singleton and Morriston hospitals.
When I also lived in Cardiff the waiting lists were astronomical which is why it feels to me more like an individual Borough/Trust issue

Despite being by far the largest population centre, our hospital only offered 30 hours' of diabetic clinics per week, less than that provided in other Health Boards around Wales. That was addressed by packing-in appointments in blocks that saw a higher throughput for a while. But then the complaints of long waiting times once at the hospital started to appear.
To address this, the management moved the clinic to an old nurses' accommodation block at the far corner of the site, with little or no parking nearby. The hours available increased, but the chance of getting the required annual checkup dropped like a stone, Newly-diagnosed patients were prioritised for a while I understand, but complications of diabetes, of which there are many, began to add a greater load to the department.
And then management started moving all sorts of diagnosis and treatment out of the city to another site. But then they had to move some clinics from that remote site to the main site when waiting lists grew rapidly.
Winter flu added numbers to the lists every year, and many departments effectively closed during COVID and the following months.
And as a "centre of excellence" a lot of patients are coming from further afield, out of their own Health Board areas, adding to the pressures on our hospital.
Starmer often states something along the lines of "The NHS under the Conservatives, is broken". He fails each time to mention the state of the NHS in Wales, a separate body, that has been under Labour control for 25 years.

Wasn't trying to compare with England, just saying that under labour it's rubbish. I'm luckily I can only judge via friends or reported on news. I get to see my GP with in a couple of hours, haven't been an in~ patient for year's fingers crossed it stays that way. The last referral , was 6 days after being made , and was down to my preferred location . Feel really sorry for people of Wales but you get what you vote for. |
You could always get an ambulance to rush to your location at 20mph

We shall have to hope that the 20mph debacle and Minimum Unit Pricing will sway some diehard Labour voters away from them in the next election.
Starmer actually said that he looked at Welsh Labour as his blueprint for England.

Did I hear correctly that a quarter of all fines for breaking 20mph are in Merthyr  Wales has a blueprint ! Guess the road signs will be in cornish. Uncle Mark says he's happy for them to be only in Welsh

"A quarter of motorists committing 20mph speed offences have been caught on just two roads in Wales, figures reveal. Enforcement along the A4102 Swansea Road at Gellideg, Merthyr Tydfil - which links the A465 Heads of the Valleys road and the A470 - has caught more than 8,000 drivers in 10 months."

If drivers had common sense we wouldn't need any speed limits, but they don't, so we need them. On some roads, cars parked either side, kids about, even 20 mph is too fast.
