Lets say you wake up tomorrow and ya suddenly discover your body is that of the opposite gender. What would ya do and how would ya react?
Would you try to make the best of it,correct it with surgery or would you even go so far as to commit suicide?
Would you even be secretly happy about it?
I dunno how I would feeel.......

Re: You wake up tomorrow,as the opposite gender..
Its a daft question since it cannot happen, and even if it were possible, I seriously doubt anyone would choose "commit suicide".

Although not an overnight change, I remember the TV programme about a Caribbean Island, where some are born appearing to be female, but later on physically change to male. I think there's a Pacific Island with the same genetic fault.

There are six karyotypes that can result in a live human birth. The genetically normal ones are XX (female) or XY (male) and result in normal physical development and expression of large gametes (eggs, female) or small gametes (sperm, male), and normal external and internal reproductive anatomy. The other four all result in disorders of sexual development, however the term ‘intersex,’ which has been used to describe them is scientifically incorrect. Every DSD which is capable of resulting in a live human birth produces a human child with either large or small gametes, so biologically either female or male. Their external sex organs may be malformed and may be misidentified by inexperienced medics leading to an incorrect observation of sex at birth. This may come to light at puberty when the sex organs may appear to change from one to the other. However, the individual was born either a biological male or female and remains so despite any changes to their external appearance.

You left out, seek counselling and psychiatric help, as it would be a mental disorder.

Well no. Not if its hypothetical and what happens in some movies. Something like Vice Versa or Freaky Friday or even Big. Waking up as a female instead of male like you went to bed. Or female waking up in a blokes body. Just generally a different body than what you went to bed.

Re: You wake up tomorrow,as the opposite gender..
I believe that the soul/spirit of some people is born into the wrong body and that this is what's happened to true transgender people. A man looking at his body of a female (and vice versa) must be a living hell.
I have always tried to be kind and understanding of such people and have known of men who have killed themselves because they couldn't cope with being transgender (or gay).
Interestingly, their sexuality is completely separate to their true gender. A man who fancies women will still fancy women even if they transition to their true self as a female.

This is Queer Theory 101 … the belief in the “gendered soul”.
It is also the reason why it’s basically outrageous for anyone to claim that ‘misgendering’ should be any sort of crime, because calling someone ‘he’ when they think they are a ‘she’ is no more serious than refusing to affirm their metaphysical beliefs.
We did away with our blasphemy laws (albeit surprisingly recently).
You may believe that someone’s soul may be born into the wrong body, but I don’t … and while I wouldn’t expect you to prove it scientifically (it being a metaphysical belief, which is categorically not science), I would hope you could provide some consistent body of quality philosophical work in support of it. Such intellectual rigour is notably absent in this area.

It's a mental disorder, and many teens that claim to be trans are usually just gay, and if counselled properly will grow up to be gay adults, which is why medical intervention at that age is abhorrent.

of course we should be kind, but that does not mean that they should have access to women's spaces, or enter women's sports, or that anyone obligated to join in with their delusion.

and this is an issue for gay women as you now have men claiming to be lesbians on lesbian dating sites.

Re: You wake up tomorrow,as the opposite gender..
Generally this seems to be a very one-sided fear or hate. It's always oh no, how can 'men' get access to female spaces.
It never seems to be mentioned about female to male transgender issues. Making it really sound like people only have problems with the male to female aspect.
I am not just talking about here, it's in general also.
Also medical intervention etc isn't just give them drugs and let them have surgery. For many younger and older transgender folk it's also about the right support in terms of therapy sessions and talking to psychologists etc. As many people suffer from mental health troubles due to their feelings and also how they get treated by other people.
