Re: Virgin TV (2024)

Discovery+ will probably never get added now though imo, there isnt much point of adding it now, Max supersede it, new subscriptions to Discovery+ have ended where Max has launched , in Spain they have stopped adding content to Discovery+
https://support.discoveryplus.com/es...tail/000004479

I think Amazon got ahead of themselves in UK...

You don't Virgin or Sky really , see their comments about being both a platform and broadcasting business.

I don’t think you are understanding me. Virgin already provide the watchlist, with profiles to boot! So the aggregation you say I can’t get is already there! That is what I want, and I can’t get that from the Amazon Fire stick, can I?

I still don’t understand why you think I am ‘surrendering’ anything. There is no contract with Virgin Stream and I have three other means of accessing streamers if ever they let me down.

You seem to be missing the fact that under my plan, I pay VM about £30 as a one-off payment, and then nothing else. Works for me, and for many others, I would guess.

I'm fully aware of the inadequacies of the plethora of streaming sticks in the marketplace - I'm the one that's been saying for years that it doesn't match the EPGs of Sky, Virgin or even Freesat in terms of making content accessible.

In which case, you can see the attraction of Virgin Stream.

And TV360. All the same shtick as a Stream but with hard drive recording. No need to pony up skip ads like with the “streamers” if you catch the broadcast.

I find it amusing that you have tried to sidestep away from the issue of surrendering control by changing the goalposts from the TV360 to Virgin Stream with no contract. However, even with Virgin Stream you still only get a handful of apps and only what Virgin curates for you.
It reminds me of earlier discussions where goalposts were moved.

The difference being that you pay for a whole raft of channels you don’t want.

I get the apps I need on Virgin (apart from Discovery+ and NOW). However, we have been advised that Discovery is on its way and Max will be showing the Sky stuff I want to see (eg HBO shows), so that will provide me with everything I need. I will no longer require NOW or the Sky channels. Any new streamers that come along will be available through my TV sticks and my Smart TV if they are not on Virgin.

I won’t be ‘locked in’ to anything and I won’t be paying for channels I don’t watch.

Re: Virgin TV (2024)

This seems somewhat a paradox since you currently subscribe to those same Virgin TV services you “don’t want”.

What’s the price difference between the lowest price bundle with a 360 and the lowest priced bundle with a stream?

So you are saying that you will use other devices for apps that Virgin doesn't provide, so don't actually get aggregated bookmarks for all services, not forgetting that Netflix isn't aggregated either. This dependence on Virgin sounds very sub-optimal.

It does seem rather odd for him to subscribe to Virgin for services he doesn't want, then to pay again for those unwanted services with a NOW subscription.

Re: Virgin TV (2024)

NFL game pass - from DAZN has all the games and costs £160 for the year. SKY sports has a very limited selection of games in comparison 3-4 per week

Yes, which you pay for. As I said, Virgin Stream is free.
