Joinign multiple domains

Your probably board about my wittering on about my new laptop but anyhow, heres the question:

I need to take my laptop with me to clients, this will mean that I need to join multiple domains, do I have to explicitly join each domain everytime I move office, or is there some software that will add the domains to my drop down list so I can just select durring logon.. as Trust relationships arent really going to work in this instance

Amny thanks
andy

Re: Joinign multiple domains

Andy,

I'm not sure why you want to join their domains.

In answer to your question your computer can only belong to one domain at a time.

However, what do you need to do that requires a machine connected to the domain? You can logon to file shares etc without being part of a domain - as long as you provide a domain logon when you connect to the share. If you need to be a domain user, it would probably be easier to use Remote Desktop into a W2K or W2K3 server.

There are also reasons why you wouldn't want to join an AD - they may have computer policies that are inappropriate for your system.

Re: Joinign multiple domains

hi Aragon, I guess my wording wasnt very good.. no joining domains is not what I meant. silly me... just cant be bothered to join the domains everytime i go sowmehere else (perhpas join is not the word I want to use here). but I think thats gonna be the way to go, and yes I could always use remote dektop (hant thought of that one).

Many thanks
Andy

just re-read argons post.. tehe.. nope I can understand what you mean argon now about not wanting to join domains with AD and the possible problems with Group Policies. but as I have set up and administer these domains thats not really a problem.

Ive kinda answered me wn question really... thanks for your advice though always apreciated.
