Re: Cabinet reshuffle: Suella out, Cameron in
Imposing an unelected Eton failure as Foreign Secretary, a man who imposed years of austerity on the country, literally broke the country in 2016 and then ran away, is the final act in this Clown Show of a Party.
Beyond parody ...

Also don't forget the Greensill scandal.

Rishi Sunak sacked Suella Braverman by phone this morning.
And Downing Street say there won’t be any exchange of letters between the two - almost unheard of.

I remember someone saying, not sure who though, that they would not want the US and the UK in executive limbo at the same time so Jan 2025 may be off?

Re: Cabinet reshuffle: Suella out, Cameron in
Being told that one of the reasons a significant number of Ministers are asking to step down now is because ACOBA rules require 6 month hiatus before taking up certain jobs. Clearly believe we’re looking at May election.

I like Dan Hodges but I think he’s reaching a bit here. Ministers get a payoff when they leave office equivalent to a quarter of their salary. They can more than afford a six-month career break in the event of losing an election and unless some of them have already been offered jobs they know are starting next spring I’m sceptical they’ll be overly concerned about the enforced pause.

It might also be if there are a few select positions and they don't want to be held back while their colleagues are free to take up posts right away. I remember reading that MPs are not as in demand as they once were, the respect the position holds has declined, and whilst Ministers are probably fine maybe they won't find it as easy as they would like to get the same kind of jobs their predecessors did.

tbf, there has been quite a turnover in Government Ministers in the last thirteen years, probably leading to a glut on the market…
https://www.instituteforgovernment.o...ent-reshuffles
This is just Cabinet Ministers/Secretaries of State, not including all of the others (each Department can have between 6-12 Ministers & Parliamentary Under-Secretaries)
