			In all seriousness … given the movement of the polar jet stream anyone launching a balloon at us from Russia or China would have to send it via North America, and they’re suddenly very good at shooting them down.

			Weather balloons and other survey balloons have been routinely tracked in UK airspace for decades just in case they become a hazard for aircraft.
 Every week over 10,000 weather balloons are launched by meteorological organizations around the world.
 
 Some can have payloads the weight of a few cars.

			They don't need balloons there's a fair amount of CCTV infrastructure that's Chinese based.
