Try not to be a smart ass for once, thats irrelevant to this topic.
We were talking about people who have a landline that would no longer function if their broadband (which they also have) failed.

Side issue but if you have BT Full Fibre with a ‘landline’ you no longer actually have a landline at all, but a VOIP service delivered via the router and a cordless wifi handset. So it no longer works in a power cut, or if the internet service goes down.

Having said that, if you’re classed as vulnerable they provide you with a battery back-up for the router, so it can do what the telephone exchange used to do and ensure continuity of service in a power cut. And in the event of the fibre broadband going down it switches to 4G.

Thanks. So, if an account is restricted and the internet goes off, would the battery back up system that Chris mentioned work in an emergency or to contact Virgin (or any provider for that matter) to sort things out?

I was explaining that there are many people (especially right now) who simply don't have £20 to spare to buy even a cheap mobile phone.

I know what you were explaining [and its still irrelevant]. Just keep digging that hole.

With VM, the internet goes off but the phone connection stays working. I'd imagine the same is true for all other ISPs.
