Re: US President Joe Biden

Nothing will happen. NRA is too powerful and the country has already decided this is the price they are willing to pay not to have to do anything about it.

But the country hasn't decided has it? The NRA-lobbied Senators have.

I'm pretty sure if they put it to referendum (not that they would ,as the US doesn't do that type of thing) then the population would vote to keep guns.

It's part of their culture and identity. It would be asking us to vote for banning tea.

They want it, they have to live with it.

Re: US President Joe Biden

It is clear that gun laws in the U.S. will never change. There are too many people in power that will make sure nothing ever gets done.

If I was a parent in the U.S. this would give me the number one reason to emigrate and leave. Schools should be a safe place for children yet nothing is being done to make them any safer.

They want it, they have to live with it.
But that said, priorities are skewed with gun and safety laws over there. The 18 year old was allowed to own a gun, further buy ammunition and do the sick deed, yet kinder eggs are banned in the U.S due to them being a danger to kids, in the form of choking. What’s the more dangerous again?

Guns could never be banned, there just has to be tougher restrictions. But sadly, nothing will change and there will be more bloodshed in American schools.

He probably couldn’t get his feet out of the toe straps, but it’s just the latest in a long long line of videos. I take less from this one, but there are loads of clips ( Jimmy Kimmel one for example) where it is clear he is cognitively struggling and it’s obvious everyone around him are doing all they can to just get him through.

I don’t know who is currently running the US executive, but it isn’t him.

Pondering those pensioners on this site shouting about Biden's age and physical accidents..You wait.It could be you all too soon and then what if you find yourself being told to stop breathing because you are too old?

Whilst you are absolutely right, in principle, Biden is the POTUS and rather hostile to the UK as distinct from Ireland. So, maybe, it wouldn't be such a bad idea if he stopped breathing now instead of later.

The last President wasn't exactly falling over himself to offer a trade deal to Little England was he? Probably too busy cheating at golf. The fact old Joe won says a lot about the incumbent at the time.

Just a heads-up that there's some well-viewed fake videos of the Bidens out there. The bike incident is real but the many fakes include:
Quote:
A deceptively edited video of Joe Biden making it appear the Democratic presidential nominee forgot what state he was in was viewed more than one million times on Twitter over the weekend.
https://edition.cnn.com/2020/11/01/t...ter/index.html

Quote:
Fake video of child swearing at Jill Biden during book reading spreads like wildfire online
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...-b1967809.html

Quote:
Opponents of President Joe Biden have repeatedly circulated videos that cut his comments short or take his words out of context to leave a misleading impression.

The tactic, which the Trump campaign employed ahead of the 2020 election, fuels the narrative that Biden is senile and incompetent, experts said.

The Republic's not proposing to breach an international treaty nor entertain discussions on following Russia's lead in exiting the European Court of Human Rights.

Based on this context, you can see why a POTUS from any party might take a hostile tone to the UK. And, that's before we've even considered the impact of Irish American votes and the Democrats' bond to the Good Friday Agreement which it views as one of its great foreign policy successes.

Most of his voters had been dead for years so you may have a point

And do they keep that Pelosi creature in a pickle jar until needed.

You've conflated current politics with Biden's underlying loyalties.

When Biden was President Elect, he was approached by the BBC and he said "BBC? I'm Irish" and walked on.

https://www.thenational.scot/news/18...heeky-dig-bbc/

You're also ignoring Irish government perfidy whose attitude dishonestly rides on the Good Friday Agreement when the row with EU is about UK sovereignty and the customs difficulties of trade between GB and NI.

Yes, as far as I and many are concerned, Biden (and Pelosi) could usefully stop breathing, and Varadkar too - the Irish Tanasty.

I’d be upset, but at 78 I’d be hoping to have my feet up retired not standing for election inviting criticism. Even better if I could do so on a former Vice President’s pension.
