Chris:
Interesting recent thread from Mike Martin - hope your keeping tabs...
This post is hilarious:

But it hasn’t happened like that - the Ukrainians have fought very well, and the Russians are pretty shit. Conscripts, poorly trained, without sufficient logistics (which are utterly vital in this type of armoured blitz war).

Had a phone conversation with
@BorisJohnson
. Grateful to the British Prime Minister for his position, new decisions to enhance the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army. Agreed on further joint steps to counter the aggressor.

One of Russia's closest allies denies request for troops
Peter Alexander
20h ago / 12:21 AM GMT
Kazakhstan, one of Russia's closest allies and a southern neighbor, is denying a request for its troops to join the offensive in Ukraine, officials said Friday.
Additionally, the former Soviet republic said it is not recognizing the Russia-created breakaway republics upheld by Russia's president, Vladimir Putin, as a pretext for its aggression in Ukraine.
Despite ceasefire accords covering the disputed land, Putin on Monday declared Russia's recognition of Luhansk People’s Republic (LNR) and the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) as independent states.
The surprising development from a traditional ally of Russia has the support of the United States.
“We welcome Kazakhstan’s announcement that they will not recognize the LPR and DPR," the National Security Council said in a statement. "We also welcome Kazakhstan’s refusal to send its forces to join Putin’s war in Ukraine."

Re: Russia has invaded Ukraine
I saw a story on either BBC News or Sky News, that normal people were queuing up to get weapons and being taught how to use them.
Question is how many Russian soldiers would shoot at grannies.
In regard to fake news, when this all kicked off on Thursday the BBC even said it couldn't fully verify all the info coming in

Re: Russia has invaded Ukraine
Watching hoards of people desperately trying to board a train to flee the Ukraine on tonight's news could just as easily have been footage from WWII.
Whilst I wasn't completely with it earlier, I heard talk on Radio 4 of Putin preparing/being prepared to use a 'dirty bomb'. This has really worried me as, if he doesn't get his own way, I think he's mad enough to use one as a last resort.
Does anyone know if what I believe I heard earlier is true, or just speculation/fake news?

I think America is generally worried he'll hit a NATO country next. Unless one of his own takes him out that nut job is likely to end what's left of his life Nuking the planet.

A lad at work who's got family in the area says he's heard it's been 'quiet' for the last few weeks, so looks we were better prepared than we were with Kuwait and delaying BA flight 149 to get a team in with minutes to spare.
