 Somewhat like Mugabe, one suspects.

 | Correct, but you weren’t asking about the devil, you were inching towards a discussion about what qualifies any particular person for hell (or, eternal separation from the presence of God, which is slightly less specific but more in tune with Christian theology at least). As is fairly typical of such a discussion when held outside of a theology seminar, it immediately veers to extremes (Hitler, Stalin, and, yes, Mugabe) and focuses on the scale of the bad deeds done by such individuals. This, however, is to completely misunderstand the Christian theological position on issues including Divine grace, love, justice and final judgment.

As I said, we’re heading into territory we used to cover frequently on this forum but haven’t for some time. I’m up for it (as I’m a third year theology student now, so I ought to be) but we could get far, far off topic very quickly. |

As I'm correct - there's no need for me to argue!
But, of course, Mugabe being dead (topic), he certainly isn't in heaven and I, for one, wish him hell.

 | Based on my understanding of Christian theology, and what I know of his life and philosophy, I don’t believe he is standing in the presence of God’s glory. Yet, as with tweetiepooh, as a Christian I acknowledge that it’s not my place to wish eternal separation from God (what is loosely and not always correctly called “Hell”) on anyone.

Jesus talked more about Hell than He did about Heaven. As Heaven is eternal blessing, Hell is eternal punishment. Hell is so horrible that I would wish that no-one went. God desires the same so has made a way to be with Him.
This could get quite fun but is this the tread for it?

Mugabe is the epitome of absolute power corrupts absolutely. He started off with the best of intentions but eventually the need for power overcame any good sense he had.

 | Not really, tweetie, because this thread is about a real event rather than a belief.
