As for Amazon? Why would they get involved. Their isn't a market for online/streaming sports...their Tennis coverage has been a similar disaster.
These streaming services need to stick to On Demand content and leave the live stuff to the TV providers.

I think the UK's just a very crowded market for Eleven Sports but not having 11 sports rights and not being on the main platforms doesn't help matters. You've got Sky, BT, Premier Sports/Free Sports, EuroSport/Quest, Box Nation, Amazon, two racing channels plus the PSBs including S4C.
No wonder DAZN decided to give the UK sports market a miss despite being based here!
Not surprised UFC stayed with BT, they've heavily advertised it with posters which Eleven could only dream of.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
It would be interesting to know why their negotiations with Virgin Media came to nothing, but maybe VM were not convinced that Eleven could survive over here with their model and bearing in mind existing competition.
It's a tough market. Remember, in the early days, it was touch and go whether Sky would survive, and look at it now!
This certainly doesn't prove it's the end for streaming live events. There are too many problems with live streaming at the moment and superfast broadband still has to be rolled out across the country. Until these issues are ironed out, this method of sports delivery to our screens will continue to attract its critics, and rightly so.

If one does not have a good hand to start with which quite clearly they did not they were found out very early in the game by Virgin and Sky.

Had Sky not being successful in acquiring the Premier League rights in 1992 I don't think it would have lasted the 20th century.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
I see Eleven Sports are now trying to renegotiate it's contracts according to the press.
It is apparently trying to get just the streaming rights , good luck with that as I can't see BT or Sky being interested in having the rights back if they can't give customers access using the BT Sport app or Sky Go.

Sky did develop a new market though, and discover they could make football “compelling”. What’s the market for Eleven (or similar)?
It’s pretty well saturated.

Can't see BT agreeing to that , surely they'll want to be able to show it on the BT Sport app also.
