The channel launched in 2014, but only came to VM fairly recently.

No News yet.
If ITV Box Office is broadcast on Virgin Media UK it will be on the Live Events Channel - Channel 100.

Virgin Media takeover TruTV?
Quote:
it is understood that Turner, which also runs CNN and Cartoon Network among other channels, is in negotiations with an unknown third party over a deal that could save the TruTV from the axe.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2
I'm surprised that they think that it's struggling, as it's not really doing that badly according to the viewing figures; there are worse performing channels on Freeview.
Info. courtesy of YouView:
TruTV 0.21%
Blaze 0.09%
YourTV 0.18%
True Crime 0.11%
Food Network 0.16%
Travel Channel 0.14%
CBS Drama 0.09%
Seems that they have unrealistic expectations.

You'd think by now they'd realise that to get a bigger audience, you need better programmes that don't insult our intelligence.

It's quite ironic that everyone compares us to the Americans, but over there they are producing more drama and good dramas at that, than ever before. Whereas our main channels produce less.
On your linear channels thread, someone argued earlier in the year that linear tv here is not in trouble and channels such as ITV, were doing well based on rising ad sales. But as latest figures shows, ITV's financials are not good and they are only going one way - down.
If you love soaps, celebrity chefs, reality and Simon Cowell, then our tv is heaven. But as viewing figures state, ever increasing amounts of people are switching off and finding their entertainment elsewhere.

Maybe it's not viewers that the channel has struggled with but advertisers. ITV have had problems here too.
I think that the trouble with new US channels launching in the UK now is that they are handicapped by their best US content being contracted to other channels in the UK. Witness the much-hyped AMC which has failed to make an impact.

I don't think ITV was suffering from a lack of viewers, it was suffering from uncertainty in the advertising market since the referendum. Most of ITV's profits come from advertising. That was back in October; perhaps TV advertising has improved since then.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2
VM are currently working on a secret budget brand with the working title 'Project Prosecco'.
It will be similar to the BT Plusnet offering and offer cheaper & lower BB speeds etc.
When everyone has been converted to the V6, I can see the old slow boxes being used for this brand.
How many of you would be interested in having a slow TiVo with less channels & reduced BB speed in return for a much cheaper service?
Please note that this project is at a very early stage.

Actually, with fewer bells and whistles on it, the old Tivos might work perfectly.
Yes, I believe a VM lite TV service would work, but no, it's not for me. I want more, not less.

Superb pay for 20mb but only get 2mb if you're lucky oh we'll be nice and give you 0.1mb upload speed too all for a great price of £30p/m which will rise by an average of 9% every few months.
Did we mention we will also throttle that 2mb speed at peak times too? So you'll problaly be getting 512k but we will still lie and say we're truly unlimited and the fastest in the uk.

Lol, it's already been leaked, so the more specialised media press may pick it up if they find it newsworthy enough.
It appears that there's a loose tongue within the VM camp!

i'm on 150mbps and i get 0.90mbps after 5pm in my area due to too many people connected to the network. If this cheap brand launches and people in my area go for it i may as well bury my superhub in the back garden since it'll be worthless
