TalkTalk did it for movies and sport but they soon canned it as it made no economic sense. TalkTalk has the YouView Now TV app which just offers Sky Cinema on-demand.
It does makes sense for EE and Vodafone who don't have wholesale agreements with Sky.

Yes, the retail, Plusnet and BT boxes have only ever had this trimmed down functionality.

Rupert Murdoch's company own Australia's equivalent to Sky (Foxtel). If the Fox-Sky deal goes through (I don't think it will), could Sky become Foxtel UK in the long term?
Would Sky's basic channels also be integrated into the Fox network as well and the current Fox channel close?

Foxtel is owned by Telstra Corporation (50%) and News Corporation (50%). It buys services from Sky plc. It is not owned by 21st Century Fox, the company that is hoping to purchase the remaining 61% of Sky plc that it does not own.
Sky's recent thrust has been to collaborate on content for Sky Arts across its territories so I guess potentially this channel could be distributed outside Europe. Both Sky and Fox are strong brands so I can't see either ending soon.

There are some models that have NOW TV, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video and TV Player Plus! All 4 of the big streaming services on one TV.

Spike +1 looks to be on its way.
Viacom have just received a licence to broadcast this on cable & satellite.
Anyone know if we will be getting ITV Box Office when it starts in early 2017?

Yes, My TV has them all and has had most of them since launch, it recently got the Amazon HDR update and i'm sure Netflix HDR will follow, the reason i made a point of the Now Tv app is it seems to be a significant step in the evolution of the service, once very exclusive, 'now everywhere' (i'm patenting that saying SKY beware my laywer's are watching!!!

I'm looking to get a Samsung at Christmas. Next step for these TV's would be to have a PVR built in. That would make them a cord cutters dream.

I can't see the TV manufacturers building in PVRs. However, I do see broadcast channels being replaced by streaming services and unlimited access to programmes through the various streaming channels and the cloud. That would obviate the need for recordings.
However, it's the same prospect for the cable companies either way, and they need to up their game to hang on to customers if they cannot come up with a USP. I think the key might be content as many have speculated. Virgin Media need to set up their own streaming service and this needs to include lots of exclusive material to keep up with the competition. The kind of deals John Malone has been getting into with the likes of Lionsgate should help to achieve that goal, given his stated aim to tap into content rather than actually having the cable companies owning it themselves.
This outcome won't happen in the short term, but there are already signs that the tectonic plates are shifting.
