Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
Very negative write-up on the usually impartial BBC, seemingly supporting many of the forum posters:
- No 4k
- Disappointing content
- VM hands tried by Sky and BT
- concerns over declining Virgin Media tv numbers
- tablet is "only" HD.
- VM claiming there is no demand for 4K
- VM "waiting to see" if it is 3D type scenario
- lack of HDR, VM hoping and "relying on 3rd parties" to add support
- Expensive tablet runs on old, dated (VM modified) version of Android
- lack of equivalent to Sky's multi TV approach
- tablet is not an anticipated enhancement as tablet sales are in decline
- kids app is targeted at "premium subscription options"
- Virgin will find it "hard to succeed"
- "one wonders what Virgin's marketing and communications will be"

Wow. Maybe VM should have splashed out on a better brand of Champagne at the launch!!

Perhaps one should do a poll on what forum members first impressions are.

Well that should cut through the hype. What do the real users make of it?
Given that the presentation was only a slide show I'm not that optimistic.

The Beeb talking crap as usual! Yep the event this morning seemed pretty crap, lacking info e.t.c.
But, the Beeb should read the info that has been available since this mornings event.

We have no need for recording TV as in our opinion there is never a conflict. The output is just so woeful. Downloads are far more interesting.

£299 .It's gonna end up being a giveaway to try to get customers back from sky .
Seems to me that it's just a direct copy of Sky Q ,only difference being Q will work well, V6 won't

Tetly adverts wasn't it? As I said to the time if they keep costs down i'do have no objections to adverts when paused.

Did you take the time to summarise that or did your paymasters email it to you?

Yes thank you. Were there any points you wanted to discuss further with the forum or do you have anything to contribute, consequent to your above post?
