When did Virgin's EPG become dynamic?
Yesterday The Last Leg on channel 4 was originally due to start at 10pm however they tweeted earlier that day that the start time had been changed to 9pm and it would be an extended show. I looked on the EPG and it was still showing as recording at 10pm so I set a recording for the program that was on at 9pm.
A little after 10pm I noticed that nothing was recording so went back into the EPG which now showed The Last Leg as starting at 9pm but wasn't set to record.
The recording I had set for 9pm had recorded though so I pressed record on channel 4+1 to get the missing part of the show.

I've got last night's Grand Designs in My Shows. But I know it recorded the earlier part of The Last Leg. So not dynamic as far as I can tell.

TiVo has always been "moderately" dynamic. It just won't pick up very late changes.

TiVo updates its EPG roughly every 6 hours. You may fall lucky on a late update.

Sadly any dynamism doesn't extend to recordings. While the EPG for yesterday evening listed the Last Leg on Channel 4 at 9.00 PM my series link recording of Grand Designs went ahead as planned but, of course, when played back it was the Last Leg. A case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, I think.

It does, but only if your box has called back after the change was made. As RobboEdin says, callbacks happen about every 6 hours, so if the change is made within 6 hours of broadcast it's a matter of luck whether it is picked up. The earlier the change is made, the more chance the box will pick it up.
Sometimes when there is a high-profile change, an extra callback will be scheduled so every box picks it up, but this didn't happen yesterday.

Why such a clunky dated system, and not dynamic like on other TV platforms?

There are pros and cons of having a dynamic EPG, as spiderplant has explained previously.

Re: When did Virgin's EPG become dynamic?
Aha this explains I am not going mad.
I had seen about 6pm The Last leg at 10pm I was sure of it.
Then we went o bed to watch it in bed and we thought we had just missed the beginning but it finished 20 mins later.
After looking on the freeview guide upstairs it said 9-10:20 so I was all confused.
When I looked next day the TiVo also said 9-10:20 but that would have been corrected after an update to the EPG.
Also means my Grand Designs recording is useless then.
Thanks for the heads up

Re: When did Virgin's EPG become dynamic?
I wonder if the times when the TiVo is really slow is when you're using it as it's doing its 6 hourly callbacks??

Absolutely yes - or also quite possibly when the EPG has been loaded and the planned recordings are being scheduled.

Re: When did Virgin's EPG become dynamic?
The V+ HD has limited space for it's epg. It used to be 7 days but as the number of channels has increased, it has reduced.
